~Arthur POV~
The following day, I and many of the other royals from the many nations were to ride around town to greet my people. Especially myself. As a future king, it was sort of a mandatory thing. Since Francis and I were the neighboring countries we had the opportunity to sit side by side to wave at the people of England.

"What a beautiful day it is," Francis smiled at me. His French accent seeped through his English.
"Indeed, a swell day to see everyone," I smiled and continued to wave at the people.
For a while, we continued to do just that until I kept noticing him staring at me.
"What is it?" I ask concerned

"Oh, nothing....it is just that every time I see you from the corner of my eyes, I am taken aback by your beauty; it truly is the highlight of everything," Francis smirked, staring and waving at the people. My eyes widen in shock.

"I beg your pardon?" I could not believe what I was hearing coming from his mouth.
"you heard me; I said you are attractive, possibly the most attractive person I have ever seen," he turned to look at me. I felt my cheeks turn red at his very statement.
"And now that I am sitting so close to you, may I also say that your fragrance makes my stomach go off in a fit of thrills," he added. I laughed at his statements, rolling my eyes.
" haha, Alright, Prince Charming, That is enough," I laughed at his joke

"Oooooh, Prince Charming?! Are you already giving me pet names?? I really like that," Francis smiled, placing his chin on his palm and staring at me.

"Do not flatter yourself, sir Francis," I rolled my eyes and continued to wave at the people. Still feeling his stare and smirk at me.

As all the royals arrived back in the kingdom for lunch, Francis had not once left my side, which I did not mind, but it was a little much.

"Why do you keep following me?" I asked him, a bit annoyed.
"Because I love your company, mon Ami, and I want to make sure no creeps try hitting on you," he smiled and brushed some of my hair out of my face.
"Oh, is that so?" I laughed, taking his hand in mine and getting close to his face. A slight blush grew on his cheeks, seeing me do this.
"Yet....you are those creeps," I laughed at him and walked away. His jaw dropped but he started to smirk as he started to follow me.

"So, you are playing hard to get?" He smiled.
"I am not playing anything with you. I hope you know, Sir Francis, that I am to be wed soon after my coronation," I spoke to him in a duh tone. He slumped into a sad position at the realization.

"Oh come on, you were only joking with me anyway. It is not like you would have feelings for me, a man, just as you," I added. He has never changed over the years. It figures he has always been such a flirt with everyone.

"Ahh....of course, Arthur," he picked his head up, forcing a smile.
"I have a question, Arthur," Francis stopped me as we entered the room full of guests.
"What is it, old chap," I smiled
"Why did you not answer my letters? You suddenly stopped," he asked, taking two glasses of wine off a tray.

"That is because I grew too busy to waste my time writing letters; besides...if I am going, to be frank, we hardly discussed much in those letters anyway," I answered his question.
"Do you still have them?" He asked curiously.
"Yes.... they are still sealed and put away, I would have thought that you would have got the message of myself not wanting to write back after the first year, but I kept receiving them, so I would store them away in my study," I admitted. He smiled at me, and we continued to watch the party commence.

"Hopefully, one day, you will read them," I heard a small whisper from Francis.
I wonder what he meant by that. Ever since Francis and I were young, he would cling to me for some mysterious reason. Although I was rude to him more than half the time, he never seemed to give up on becoming my friend. Although I did not want to admit it at the time, I considered him a good friend and would not have traded him for anyone else in the world.
~
As the party ended, the guests left to go to their stay, or some of the guests stayed at the castle itself. Francis believed he was lucky enough to stay in the same castle as me. He is preposterous, as usual.

"Mon Cher, Arthur, would you mind if I walked you to your quarters?"
"Why would you want to do that?"
"I just want to make sure I am the last person you see tonight," Francis laughed, making me glare.

"Now you are teasing me as usual; I will be fine on my own," I rolled my eyes at him.
"For a future king, you do seem to roll your eyes quite a bit Arthur."
"Only at you, frog," I laughed at the name I gave him.
"Wow, you are breaking my heart," he pretended to be sad. Francis ended up walking me to my room which was fine I assume.

However, I soon walked to my study a few minutes after. I felt that there was some unfinished business to do. My study was messy with all the planning and future duties I must take care of.  Especially before the coronation next Friday. I sat at my desk and went through the drawer, trying to find my pen, but I stumbled upon Francis's letters.
I stared at them for quite a bit debating whether to humor him or not.
"Oh, bloody hell," I said, giving up.
"Just one," I added, taking one out and getting the knife on my shelf to open it.
