[EDITED]
That night I slept on the couch in Nezu's office, well, I had assured him that's what I'd do. In reality, I had just laid there staring at the cityscape, fighting the urge to sleep the night away. Even though I had grown exhausted from the trials of the day, the night seemed so awake, so alive. If I strained my hearing I could even make out the distant crashes and cheers of nightlife that sparked throughout the city. I suppose it isn't all loud noises and foul smells...
The following morning, I bathed and washed my hair, and then I managed, with immense difficulty, to comb it until it fell like silk down my back. Although the results were worth it, three combs and a brush were sacrificed in the process.
Once I finished with my hair I changed into the plain white T-shirt and blue basketball shorts with black trainers that Principal Nezu had supplied.
Once ready I follow Nezu out of the building, and into the garden. The garden surrounding the school was beautiful, it reminded me of the forest in the way it flourished so vibrantly and naturally. It had tulips and roses planted in specific places in order to compliment the winding dirt pathways that sprouted off in different directions. As we continue down the right hand path I pause before a small clearing, eyeing the singular seat in the center. This place seemed like the most peaceful place in the entire school... it was far enough away from the streets, and the school, no noise could be heard but the quiet chirping of loistering birds nesting in the trees above.
"Miss Hitsune, we are ready for you!" Nezu calls, interrupting my train of thought as he returns from wherever he had continued walking to fetch me. I nod slightly in apology as I follow him to a large hardened dirt field. A tall man with raven hair down to his mid-shoulders stood in the center of the field, his arms crossed lightly as he watched me approach. The man sported an all-black outfit with a grey scarf wrapped loosely around his neck.
A stealth hero.
"Alright. This is Shota Aizawa, a teacher in our hero course. He is here today to test your skill and knowledge, specifically in combat" I nod in understanding as Nezu explains, stopping a sizable distance from the pro before me. His scarf had to serve a purpose...
Nezu watches us both before clapping his hands together, a grin sliding onto his face, "This will be a 1 on 1 battle. You both are permitted to use quirks. The battle will conclude when one of you either ends up out of bounds, knocked out, or immobilized. Do you both understand?" Nezu continues, looking at both of us for an answer. We both nod.
"3..." Nezu begins counting down. Aizawa's hands drop from their crossed position against his chest, his footing shifting slightly as he watches me carefully.
"2..."
I shift on my feet briefly before taking a step back. His scarf had to be a capture weapon of some kind... why else would he still have it on?
"1..."
I slide my feet slightly apart, squaring my shoulders in preparation to move. He notices, the corner of his lips quirking upright ever so slightly.
"Go!" Nezu shouts.
I attempt to shift my fingernails into claws, only to feel my power stutter and halt. I furrow my brows before looking toward Aizawa. My lips part slightly in shock as I take in his widened red eyes and floating hair.
His quirk is to rid others of theirs...
I press my lips into a line briefly, my tail flicking as I shift from one foot to the other in thought. His quirk doesn't erase physical quirks, only quirks that need to be activated, and channeled... therefore he hasn't erased my speed... or strength...
I finally pounce into action. I run at him, letting him shift his weight onto his hind leg in preparation to meet my blow, but then, before he can react, I twist my leg rounding him instead and kicking his hind leg out from under him, throwing him off balance.
I watch as he falls back, twisting quickly to catch himself, looking away and blinking as he catches himself on his hands. As soon as his eyes shift from me I feel my power once again thrumming through my fingertips. I waste no time and shift my nails into claws before slashing them at him.
Aizawa quickly rolls away, kicking himself back onto his feet and facing me off head-on, this time he doesn't activate his quirk. I twist to shift, making the vital mistake of taking my eyes off of my opponent. I glance back once I feel my paws beneath me, only to find the male gone.
A stealth hero... Why did I turn my back on a stealth hero...
I feel the fur on the back of my neck stand on edge before soft footsteps sound behind me. I quickly spin and leap out of the way, only for a strong material to wrap tightly around my midsection pulling me backward. I panic and shift back, twisting to free myself only for the restraints to be yanked. My body falls to the floor, a palm pressing firmly against my cheek, keeping me pinned to the ground.
"Okami is detained! Eraser Head wins the mock battle!" Nezu exclaims.
Eraser head... I've heard that hero name before...
Aizawa P.O.V.
I lift my palm from the girl's cheek, my body slightly rigid as I hear Nezu shout that familiar name. After a moment's pause, I reach out and help her up, using my free hand to tug my scarf back into place as I analyze her familiar features. How hadn't I noticed?
"You did well in that fight. I had to put up more of a fight than I anticipated..." I state, trying to ease the shame and embarrassment that bubbled in her expression as she stood from her position on the ground.
"I am going to be abrupt with you though. You lack discipline and act without thinking things through. You also leave no room to see how something plays out. You seek to end a battle swiftly and easily, but in doing so you underestimate your opponent's capabilities. You're impatient and scared to make a mistake. That combined with your complete cluelessness in regards to your quirk... there are many things you need to work on" I conclude, glancing over at the pros on the sidelines.
"Now if you'll excuse me..." I brush my sleeves off before walking over to Nezu and Best Jeanist, "Nezu... who is she?" I ask, demanding an answer, my tone suggesting I already knew the answer.
"She is Foxy and Elemental's daughter." Best Jeanist says, slipping into the conversation. I glance at him my eyes widening ever so slightly before returning to their neutral look. I would not believe a word from him.
"I searched and searched for her after the incident. she was nowhere to be found. I thought she was killed..." I furrow my brows, glancing between the pair in disbelief, "Did she just materialize out of thin air or rise from the dead?" I question sarcastically, digging my clenched fists deep into my pockets.
"Okami claims that she ran to the woods, and has resided there ever since. Best Jeanist also found her in the woods just last night, which adds evidence to that theory." Nezu explains, walking toward Okami on the far side of the arena, still brushing the dirt from her knees.
"...Well... she is a quick thinker, with a powerful quirk... well the one I saw that is. She lacks discipline sure, but that can easily be remedied with the proper training." I glance toward Jeanist, looking at him boredly, "Her quirk is Fox?" I ask.
"No, not really. She inherited Element as well, but claims that she won't use it."
"hmm..."
"Well... the day her parents died was a terrible one, for Japan... for friends... and more than anyone... for her. If the cost of that trauma was her willingness to use one of her quirks, then we should be grateful that no other damage was done..." I nod slightly in response, starting to walk away,
"Please let Nezu know that he can make the necessary adjustments to integrate Okami into my class. She deserves the place." I conclude, walking toward the exit of the school.
"Got it."
