Trigger warning: anger problems; death.
Normani shoved her phone in her pocket and stepped inside Camila’s room, following the doctor and the rest of the people’s steps.
The doctor warned them about the girl’s state, with extra careful for Sofia, and explained them “she isn’t as bad as you’re probably going to think she is ”, were her exact words. Knowing that, none of them was expecting to see Camila looking at her best, but they all felt their hearts hurt with all the machines the girl needed to stay alive at the moment.
Camila’s mother turned around and found her husband’s arms, who wrapped around his wife in a protective way. Ally walked close to the end of Camila’s bed and sobbed quietly. Normani noticed and walked close to the girl, stroking her back comfortingly. Sofi, surprisingly, walked close to her sister and watched her close. The little girl didn’t look frightened, or sad, as if she didn’t understand exactly what was happening, but she did, at least partially.
Sofi kept examining every detail of her sister laying on the hospital bed. She examined the machines and where they were attached. She examined the brown-eyed girl’s bruises and the stitches that would help her heal.
Sofi raised her hand carefully and ran her fingers upon the white cast that was wrapped around Camila’s arm, then all of a sudden the little girl turned her face to the doctor and spoke up.
“Doctor Dinah…” Sofi called shyly.
“Yes, sweetheart?”
The doctor walked closer to Sofi while everyone in the room watched their interation.
“Can you do me a favor?”
“Sure.”
“Change the cast’s color so Mila won’t be upset when she wakes up,” Sofi bowed her head to look at Camila’s arm again.
“Why would she be upset?” the doctor kneeled down next to Sofi.
“That’s not her favorite color, purple is.”
“Oh…” the doctor tapped her forehead lightly with her hand pretending she knew she had done something wrong.
Small giggles and smirks filled the silence that hovered the room everytime Sofi stopped talking.
“How silly of us! I’ll make sure they change the color as soon as possible,” the doctor ensured the little girl, who seemed satisfied.
“Oh, and if you can, put some glitter. She would love that too”, the small girl reminded quickly.
“Noted!” the doctor smiled along with the people in the room.
Soon Camila’s family and friends were surrounding her bed and asking the doctor questions, Sinu having to always remind Sofia where she was, and for the tenth time, tell the girl she couldn’t climb the bed and lay with Camila. Sometimes the machine that showed the brunette’s heart rate would bip faster, making everyone in the room hold their breaths, but the doctor reminded them that it was okay.
After a good ten minutes, the doctor was called in the emergency, she told them Ally and Normani could only stay until the visit time ended, after that only family was allowed. Camila’s parents thanked the doctor, and Sofi kissed the woman in the cheek, then made sure she wouldn’t forget about the purple cast. Doctor Dinah agreed, and then left the room letting another doctor take charge of Camila’s watch.
