(Author's note)

A/N: this note is just to make sure you pay extra attention to Normani and Lauren’s exchange of text messages, it’s just a new way of writing I’m trying. Enjoy the chapter.

The next day, both Normani and Ally repeated their way to the parking lot, where Normani’s grandma would be waiting to take them to the hospital to visit Camila.

One more day, they were interacting with each other until it was time to go home again. They were all lost in their laughs and subjects; they didn’t notice a pair of sleepy brown eyes watching them. The petite brunette tightened her lips until where the weak muscles of her face allowed her to.

Camila’s father was the first to realize that the girl had opened her eyes. The man tightened the grip on his wife’s arm, then the woman turned to look at him. She carried her gaze to where the man was looking, then met with her daughter’s tired gaze and the tears filled her eyes. Ally got up from the chair hurriedly and called the doctor, who came running.

It took a minute for the girl to realize where she really was, but she remembered almost everything. At first, she thought she was dead and had just arrived in heaven, where her family was with her, playing and laughing, just like they were right now. Camila tried to reach the oxygen mask but an excruciating pain ran through her whole body, making her squeeze her eyes in pain and don’t risk the same movement again. Her head hurt and her eyelids were heavy, but she gave her best to stay awake, and watch her friends and family laugh.

The doctor, a tall dark-skinned male, about 5’7, around his 25’s, entered the room and positioned himself beside Camila. Her mom and dad on the other side, holding Camila’s not broken arm, although full of scratches here and there. Slowly, the doctor removed Camila’s oxygen mask, the girl sighed thankfully. More scratches being revealed next to the girl’s left cheek and nose. Besides a small cut closed with the help of stitches next to her left temple, those were the only bruises she had on her face.

“Hi, Karla. Do you know where you are?” the man asked with a soft voice.

Camila tried to nod, but her head was as heavy as rock. She tried to speak, but her mouth was dry, her throat scratchy, and her tongue stuck. In a third attempt to give the doctor an answer, the girl closed her eyes and opened it slowly again, hoping he would understand she knew where she was.

“Don’t force yourself too much, okay? It’s a good thing that you know where you are.” The man took a small lantern in his hands and instructed the girl to follow the light with her eyes. The girl tried to keep up with the light’s speed, but it seemed too fast so she did what she could. The man noted something in a pad and turned the lantern off.

“All right, her reflexes are still kind of slowly, but nothing serious,” the man explained more to her parents than to her, then he turned the attention to her again.

“I’m Doctor Brandon. You suffered a car accident, that’s why you’re at a hospital,” the man was going to continue to explain Camila what happened, but a tear escaped from the girl’s’ eyes.

“It’s all right, Karla, you’re safe now, your friends and family are all here” the man reassure the girl and finished the procedures of checking if everything was okay with the girl, at least in the outside.

“It’s okay, Mila”, Sofi spoke coyly and walked close to the girl. Sofi always knew how to approach Camila. “I already asked them to change the color of you cast”, the little girl explained truly believing that was why Camila was crying.
