"I'm way to good at, saying I love you like i believe it"

: Adeline

It had been a few weeks since Adeline met Jenny, and she couldn't have been more happier. The two girls had hung out almost every day, Jenny had taken Adeline to many new places that she absolutely loved. She was incredibly grateful for the only friend she had met in University, and how Jenny didn't make her do things she didn't want to.

"There's this really great ice cream place down where you live" said the raven girl through the phone. Adeline layed on her bed, working on the new assignment she had been assigned to. The girl was happy that the professors didn't make them do a lot of assignments, because there was enough time during class to them there.

"um, sure. What should I wear?" She asked, turning off and placing her laptop on the night table next to her bed. Grabbing her phone, she walked to her restroom. Turning on the light the first thing she saw was her appearance in the mirror in front of her, her hair was in messy ponytail, her body covered with the navy blue hoodie and her legs covered with the black leggings.

Moving to the closet she pulled out the articles of clothes that Jenny suggested; a lavender spaghetti strapped fitted crop top, a black plaid skirt- that fitted onto her hips, causing a bit of stomach to show from the crop top being a bit to short- she pulled out her all black windbreaker, that was white in the inside, it fit a bit to big but she still loved it. And last she slipped on her white shoes

"What is it love?" asked her father, noticing his daughter dressed up.

"Is it okay if I go get ice cream with Jenny?" She knew her parents would say yes, they had no reason to say no. She did all of her chores, kept up with her classes and never once was she disrespectful but she still had this nagging feeling that one day, when she asks to do something they will yell at her and say no. But she knew better, her parents had never once raised their voice at her.

"of course, just be back before 8" said her father, her mood immediately lightened up and a smiled showed on her pink lips, she nodded her head and kissed them both on the cheek. Closing the door behind her she text Jenny,

messages:
Adeline: where's the ice cream shop?

messages:
Jenny: it's called 'roses cream' it's a little pink shop, just keep walking straight and you'll see it there. On the left side of your home.

Slipping her phone back into her pocket, she hummed a little song in her head, admiring her surroundings. Just like always she never noticed the intense stare that seemed to follow her everywhere. home, college, stores. everywhere she went, he went along. Any person she met he knew who it was. She stayed in her safe world oblivious to the man who had grew in obsession with her. He was her shadow, but soon she would be known to the darkness that was known as William.

Opening the door to the small shop, she smiled at the pink ice cream parlor. the soft ballerina pink that she learned to love showed in almost in all the decorations, scanning the seats she stopped once she saw raven straight hair. Gracefully making her way, she sat in front of her one and only best friend. The first thing Adeline noticed was her smile -one that caused her own- her eyes quickly noticed the purple, red bruise that's sported on Jenny's neck. Shock, worry, and confusion flooded through Adeline's head. Was she okay? Did someone hurt her? She didn't understand why someone would leave such a painful mark on her skin.

"A-are you okay?" She asked.

Jenny saw the look on her face, and a look of confusion was written on her face.

"Yes, why what's wrong?" She asked.

"you have a bruise on you neck" Adeline pointed out, staring at the mark on her neck

"It's okay, it's just a hickey" she said, smiling at the girl in front of her, a look of confusion was the most prominent emotion showing on Adeline's face.

"what's a hickey?" Did it hurt to get one, why was she okay with just showing off the hickey if it did hurt? Wouldn't people be asking her what's wrong if they knew it was a bruise? God she felt so stupid of course they would be asking.

"A hickey is something you get from-" Jenny tried to explain, but was interrupted from the buzz of her phone. Letting go of her hands, Adeline saw her bring out her phone to check what must've been a text message. Once Jenny focused her attention back to Adeline she sighed, a look of pity and extreme guilt was written on her face.

"A hickey is nothing love. Do you mind ordering me a chocolate ice creams with chocolate drizzle and gummy bears? I have to use the loo real quick" nodding, both girls stood up. Her friend very quickly hugged Adeline, a bone crushing one. Adeline was frozen from surprised, until she returned the gesture to give her an equal amount of love into the hug. She didn't understand what came over her friend, but she never minded a hug.

"what's wrong?" Jenny, smiled at the girl, saying a quick nothing. Smiling she pulled her into another quick hug.

"I'm so sorry" she whispered, letting go of the confused girl and making her way to the girls room. Still confused, she figured it was nothing and made her way to the counter to order her ice cream.

Placing Jenny's choice and hers: a vanilla ice cream with chocolate drizzle, nuts and a bit of whip cream. She never had the luxury of tasting ice cream, so the second the yummy dessert touched her tongue she immediately wanted more and kept digging into her treat.

A buzzing from her phone caused her attention to advert to her right pocket, grabbing her phone she saw a text message from Jenny,

messages:
Jenny: hey can you come to the restroom, I need help real quick.

messages:
Adeline: sure.

Turning her phone off, she slipped her phone in her pocket again, grabbing the now empty cup. She threw the trash away, a slight frown showed on her face once she saw Jenny's ice cream start to melt.

she's going to need a new one.

Making her way to the loo, she slipped past the door. It was silent, she didn't hear jenny nor did she see her.

"Hello, Jen?" seeking further into the restroom, she didn't notice the big and scary man creeping behind the her. Sighing, she was ready to turn on her feet and make her way back to the table where Jenny would hopefully show up.

Feeling a strong hand wrap around her arms that were pinned around her waist, and her mouth. She stood frozen for a second, not knowing what was happening for everything was happening to fast. Once the situation she was in registered into her mind, her blue eyes started to water, her body tried to so hard rip away from the person behind her but to her disappointment the person was just to strong. You could hear Adeline's whimpers in the once silent restroom, once she felt her eyes slowly start to close the young girl tried to restrain from succumbing to the dark.

Maybe if she were stronger she would've escaped. Maybe if she wasn't so weak she would've still be able to go to school, see her family. But she wasn't, and oh was she angry, for the first time she was mad. Mad at how she didn't try harder, if she just would've.

but you can't change the past, just as she couldn't change falling limp into the mysterious persons arms.
