When in school we learned the historySlavery, manifest destiny, hypocrisy
All men are created equal is what they declared
But was any single person different from them life's spared
Because those stars and stripes cannot hold the weight
Of our allegiance to a country that only knows take
We're taught that we are heroes
Leaving other countries on their toes
Put this down in the books
We shouldn't judge everything by how it looks
I can't judge, no not at all
Like we can rise, we can fall
Cause, in the end, you only have yourself
And how you played the cards you were dealt
