Trin randomly texts me: I need more
I reply: Of what?
Reference materials
... For what? How does this have anything to do with me?
I'll visit your place tomorrow. Text me the address
No
Don't make me stalk you
Fine
But why the sudden visit? You'll find out tomorrow ;)
Out of curiosity, would Feodor happen to have plans tomorrow? How would I know? And why are you asking?
Like I said. Just curious
🙄
Oh em gee you used a smiley 😆
... 😐 okay bye
Wait! I'll bring food. Craving anything?
Not chicken?
Nikuman it is then
... I have no idea what that even is
👍🏼
What the hell...

It turns out nikuman is Trin-and-Japanese for steamed meat buns.
I managed to down one before things took a turn for the worse.
Sometimes, Trin is more like a nosy aunt than anything else.
So being completely honest, it's my own fault. I mean, how could I have not triggered when she asked about Feodor's plans?
So now, seated around the table as if at some arranged-marriage meeting, I can only blame myself.
Trin's smiling.
Feodor looks as if a wasp stung him and it's taking all he has in him not to suddenly jump up and run from the room screaming.
I probably also look like that.
"So, Feodor, is it alright if I ask you a question?"
What the hell Trin, where are you going with this? I send her a look that says this, but she's avoiding making eye contact with me.
Feodor nods.
Is he... intimidated? Considering how to dump her body in the river? It looks like one or the other of the two.
"What type of food do you like?"
"What?" Feodor says. And I think I might have spat it out as well.
"Food. What kind. You like."
I've never pretended to understand Trin. But seriously, I don't understand her.
"Umm I, ah, like... chicken?"
Oh my gosh could this get any more awkward?
Is this how interrogating someone works? By first throwing them off guard with the most random questions in the world?
"Care to elaborate?" Trin says.
"Umm, do you know katsu?"
"No way!" Trin full-on slams her hands against the table and I nearly have a heart-attack.
