VERA IVANOV was a secret to the Wizarding World.
The Ivanov family weren't the most popular family name amongst wizards until the night of their massacre.
Before that the only thing they were known about was having family members with rather peculiar specialties.
The Ivanov family were a pure-blood family but never felt better than any other wizard, muggle-born, half-blood or pure-blood.
The brave Anna Ivanov even helped out those in need of protection during the first Wizarding War.
She was part of the Order of the Phoenix while still teaching at Hogwarts.
When Voldemort found out about this woman he was determined to destroy her and her family.
So that's what he did.
On a summer's eve Voldemort went to the Ivanov's family home.
But that night one child and her mother weren't there. The only people inside were the child's three brothers and their nanny.
But Voldemort had never seen Anna so he thought the innocent nanny was their mother so he killed all four of them.
The mother was never heard of again since that evening.
The young girl, however was in the safe hands of Andrew Strange.
An expelled student of Hogwarts who was greatly trusted by Dumbledore himself.
Together they fled to her father's homeland Romania.
The child grew up with the name Vera but no one would ever know.
She was forced to live in the shadows all her life. Never knowing what it was like to have friends.
She would be the secret weapon in defeating the dark lord so no one in the whole Wizarding world could know she was alive. That was the only way the dark lord couldn't find out about the girl with special gifts.
So when the girl turns eleven, her letter never arrives and she never goes to the magical school with fellow wizards and witches.
But when Voldemort returns at the end of Harry Potter's fourth year it is time for Vera to step in and use her extraordinary powers to help in the second war against the dark lord himself.
And even though she can't conjure a single spell with a wand she can do other, much more powerful things in the battle against Voldemort.
