A few hours had passed since Vera stood up for one of her first ever friends, Harry Potter.
In those hours she tried to pass the time with reading a book about different kind of spells but to no use.
The pieceful reading soon turned into aggressively flipping the pages over and over in frustration.
Frustrated at the fact she didn't understand anything about this magic and even more frustrated at the fact that almost everyone seemed clueless about the return of he-who-must-not-be-named.

After some time Hermione and some other students came into the room.
Hermione layed a hand on the girl's shoulder who was still flipping pages in frustration, almost ripping the pages.
She bent down a little to be on the same eye-level as Vera and whispered softly.
"Vera, are you alright?"
The girl huffed in anger and looked up.
She saw some other girls staring at her making her return a glare in their way and they quickly looked away.
"Not really."
It was silent for a moment and Hermione decided to sit on the bed next to the girl.
"Could you be a bit more specific?"
Vera stroke a hand through her hair while Rex hugged her other arm.
"Just, this. Everything... I don't know."
It was hard for her to let her emotions out through words since it was something new.
Vera let her head rest in her arms while sighing loudly. Her eyes turned to look at her friend next to her and she felt even more disappointed in herself when she saw the look on Hermione's face.
She took a daring move and moved her hand to let it rest on Hermione's.

"I'm sorry, I'm not good at this whole explaining my... My feelings. I just need to take a walk by myself."
Hermione nodded with a small smile and stood up.
Vera gently picked up Rex and placed him on her shoulder.
"I'll be back soon."

After a long stroll through the corridors of Hogwarts and surprisingly not getting lost so far, Vera felt that it was time to head back to her comfortable bed.
She felt the tiredness taking over her and she yawned quietly while taking quiet steps.
She took in all the paintings surrounding her and she felt a sense of calm coming her, seeing all the moving pictures of art.
Some even greeted her or gave a smile when she passed by.

Rex had already fallen asleep on her shoulder while his arms were grown just enough to fit around her neck.
She walked around in silence while it was getting darker and darker by the minute.
She finally knew what her brothers, Ivan and Eren, felt like when they were students at this school.
Levi and her never went since they were too young before their family was killed. After all, Vera was about two months old and Levi was only six when it happened while Ivan and Eren were in their final year.

Vera didn't know how but she managed to return to the familiar portret of Gryffindor's common room.
She smiled while walking towards the portrait of a woman because that's what friendly people do, or that is what Andrew taught her.
The portrait didn't smile back and just uttered the word 'password'.
Vera's smile faded when she remembered she didn't listen when Harry spoke out the words of the needed words.
She scratched her head.
"Uhm, well, you see, I don't know it because I didn't pay attention to my friend."
Her explanation sounded more like a question.
"No password, no entrance."
Vera let her hands fall to her sides in annoyance.
"C'mon, you've seen me walk in and out of here not to long ago. Just let me in and I'll promise to learn the password."
The Vera's annoyance the portrait didn't budge and Vera huffed getting angrier.
She kicked the portrait and let herself fall to the ground.
She sat in front of it with her back turned towards the horrible painting.

Rex woke up after hearing the thud of Vera's foot hitting the portrait that was now scolding her but the girl refused to listen.
She simply muttered some rather unkind things about it.

Before she came back she felt rather calm but her anger and frustration had returned all because she wasn't allowed entrance to her own common room! It was insane!
She rested her head in her hand while letting her eyes drop. She was growing tired but she couldn't sleep in her bed. Well, than she would just have to stay out here.

It was getting darker and the halls of Hogwarts seemed less friendly in the night.
The portrait tried to scold the girl and tell her to go away but Vera shushed it by hitting the door with her hand.
"Shut it, old woman." she hissed.
She leaned her back against the wall next to the painting while stretching her legs infront of her trying to get comfortable.
She closed her eyes ready to doze of but a sound next to her made her eyes open in a second.

The door to the common room opened and the head of Neville Longbottom stuck out of it trying to get a look at the thing that was hitting against the door.

Vera couldn't help but smile when she saw a way to finally enter and stood up. The boy looked rather confused as to why his housemate was sitting out in the halls but tried to avoid eye contact as much as possible.

"Thank God, you're still awake. You just saved me from an awful night."
