0.2 |a whole new world|

AFTER spending dinner in silence between new faces Vera was back in the safety of being alone in her room.
She would have to come down in a few hours to talk about her trip to Hogwarts.
Andrew had told her about the Order's plan a few weeks ago and Vera would do everything to avenge her family and help take down the dark lord.
Vera was playing with the wooden cubes on her bed lifting them up and letting them float throughout the whole room.
She was too focused on the various blocks that she didn't hear the approaching footsteps so when the door opens she whips her head towards it losing attention on the block and letting them fall to the ground.
There stood the teenage girl that was earlier introduced as Hermione Granger.

"Is there something you need?"
There was a sight tone of annoyance evident in Vera's voice. The girl just shook her head with a small smile and entered the room.
Vera looked at Hermione in confusion when she sat on the bed next to hers with a book in her hands.
"I'm sorry, but what are you doing?"
Hermione looked up from her book at the girl.
"This is my room as well, we share it."
Vera huffed in annoyance while turning her back to Hermione disregarding the various cubes spread throughout the room.
It was silent for a moment until Vera could hear the other girl's voice.
"Do you have everything you need? For Hogwarts?"
Vera turned around in her back looking at her hands.
"I don't know what I need."
Hermione layed her book down next to her and scooted in her bed to get a little bit closer to the girl next to her.
"Your books? Robes or even your wand?"
Vera looked up with a confused frown.
"I have none of those thing. And what on earth would I need a wand for?"
Both girls didn't really understand what the other meant and after Hermione asked how she would otherwise do magic, Vera gave the girl a genuine smile for the first time.
"I can show you."
Hermione nodded hesitantly so Vera walked to the end of her bed and looked at the wooden blocks indifferent sizes.
She started to wriggle her hands upwards and red glowy strings attached around the cubes and soon enough they started to float.
Soon enough she put them back down gently and turned around to see the teenager's reaction.
Vera didn't see a smile on the girl's face and she became worried that she was scared or thought weirdly of her now.
"Did I do something wrong?"
Hermione started to smile and shook her head.
"No, that was amazing."
Vera let out a nervous laugh looking at the girl in front of her.

The girl wasn't scared of her and Vera felt good about it.

***

Vera was walking next to Harry through King's Cross Station.
Andrew, Mood-eye and Tonks were walking in front of them.
Vera's eyes shot from left to right. She was amazed at the sight of so many people close together but when it got too crowded she got a bit scared.
A black dog that seemed extremely familiar to Vera padded passed them and she could hear Mood-eye whisper something.

Not too much later she and the rest of the group stood infront of a room with blinded glass while Harry was inside with the dog.
Vera stood just behind Andrew feeling safer as always.
"What are we waiting for?"
Andrew turned his head with a smirk.
"Harry's talking to his godfather."
Vera frowned and turned her gaze away from the man.
She muttered to herself while scratching her head.
"How can a dog be a godfather?"

After some time Harry and the familiar dog came outside and everyone walked towards platform 9 3/4.
When they were infront of their destination Vera turned back to Andrew.
"I have taken care of all the stuff you need except a wand."
He took a wand out of his back pocket to much disapproval of Mood-eye who was shaking his head.
"This was Ivan's wand. You probably won't use it much but at least you have a bit of your family with you."
He held out the slightly crooked wand with a warm smile and Vera took it.
"Thank you, Andrew."
Vera grinned at the man before wrapping her arms around him. Andrew chuckled while wrapping his arms tighter around her, surprised by her action.
"Now go, little bird."

The two let go of each other and Vera walked to Harry until she stood next to him.
"So how do we get into the platform?"
Vera looked a bit uncertain towards the stone pillar they stood in front of.
"We just run into the wall."
Vera whipped her head around with a look of fear on her face.
"Are you mad?" she whisper-shouted.
Harry held out his hand for her to take.
"Just close your eyes if you're scared. I'll lead the way."
Vera nodded while slowly taking his hand in hers and closing her eyes.
And soon enough her feet began moving alongside Harry's.

Not much later she stood on platform 9 3/4 holding tightly onto Harry's hand. Vera opened her eyes and started laughing in amazement.
"That was wonderful."

The duo began walking through the crowded space. Vera couldn't help but hold onto the strap of her bag a bit tighter with one hand while the other was still entwined with Harry's.
A small sound came out her bag and Vera muttered a small 'sorry Rex'.
The hold onto her hand got a little tighter and Vera could see Harry staring off into the distance.
She pulled on his hand lightly while calling out his name but no response came from the boy.
She closed her eyes while sighing before opening them and focusing her gaze on Harry.
Soon enough her eyes started to turn to a scarlett red color and she started to see images of Harry's mind.
A small gasp escaped her mouth as she saw the dark lord himself standing in a black suit on the platform.
Not too much later the image disappeared and Vera got out of Harry's mind.
"Harry, are you okay?"
The boy nodded while starting to walk away and responded in an annoyed tone.

"I'm fine."

Vera nodded and decided to leave it there. She already invaded his personal space by taking a look in his mind but luckily he didn't know. And afterall she barely knew him.

Soon enough they luckily came across Ron and Hermione to break the awkward silence between the two.
Vera decided to be as quiet as she could and not interfere the conversations of the three friends while sitting on the train towards Hogwarts.
So for most of the ride she stared of into the distance admiring the view from her seat without speaking a single word. Sometimes she would take a look in her bag with a small smile but she avoided any contact with the three people sitting in her compartment.
Making friends would be harder than she thought.

But she was so close to a whole, new world.

Neville will make his firsr appearance in the next chapter and I promise it will be much better.
