Geez!!! I can't believe I'm in chapter 6!!!
You know that popular saying, "Its not over till it actually is,". No? Well right now, I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me because I looked even more dumb than Fortune in Math class. It was just 10:12 am and my subconscious had already made up its mind, NK had won.
Clearing my throat for the sixth time again, I dragged my sweaty palm over my skirt as the question was repeated again. "What is the highest rank in the navy?" I blinked once. Then twice. Then I glanced around the class for an answer. Nothing.
I was a civilian for God's sake and this was an English class not Government for bananas' sake!!!
"I don't know ma." I answered curtly as the fair average heightened, middle aged woman walked up to me."Lois, what do you mean by you don't know?"
I don't know?!!
She crossed her arms as I just stared at her, speechless. "How will she know?" I heard NK whisper loudly and my head snapped towards her direction, my face hosting a nasty scowl. The statement made me think of a way to answer the question. I willed my head to think, going deep into my brain box.
It had to be here somewhere.
"Captain?" I tried as my English teacher just shook her head. Sighing I dropped my head. I felt dumb right now. "Can anyone tell me?" Mrs ola asked, making me seat down back on my seat in total utter embarrassment.
She stared at the silent class, surprise colouring her expression. "Do you want to tell me that nobody in the class knows?" Her eyes scanned the class and I joined her, my eyes looking for the militaries. Those who were born and bred in navy town, whose blood the military blood ran.
They all were surprisingly quiet, a few debating about the question, the others just simply staring. My perplexed English teacher walked round the class. "If you are military stand up."
Shuffling of feet were heard as they all stood up. I was more surprised when NK, who carried the military on her very great head didn't join them in getting up.
"If no body says something I'll ask one personnel to flog all of you." Mrs ola stood at the door of the class, as a smile appeared on my face instantly for a reason that I don't know.
"Admiral of the fleet." Peace my seat partner who happened to be military and was extra smart for her own age answered. With one last look at everyone, Mrs ola told them all to sit down, the 11 letter words registering themselves automatically in my head.
Admiral of the fleet.
She went on with her teaching and soon it was break time. As always, I pulled out my lunch which was spaghetti and chicken sauce with a huge chicken lap placed on top.
Sniffing in the aroma my food caused when I opened it, a smile went to my face coupled with a silent prayer for my mum about the lord keeping her alive for a very long time.
Digging into my food, I hummed on unstoppable by Sia as my class mates walked in with drinks, doughnuts, meat pies and the rest of the junks that were sold at the kiosk.
Peace walked in with a Pepsi and a doughnut and smiled at me when she saw my chicken. "Lois I'll eat oo." She dropped down on her seat wiggling her eyebrows at me.
Rolling my eyes at the dark skinned beauty in front of me, my eyes shifted to the war queen. NK.
I actually wanted to end the fight but it was clear she didn't. I hated fights and especially malice but there was this urge pushing me, this urge that drove me not to give up.
