The interview had been going better than Ashley could've hoped. Eddie had been very open-minded about what life entailed when it came to living with a symbiote like Venom. Standing up to leave, Ashley offered her hand for a handshake, "Thank you for this interview, Eddie. I hope it can clear any suspicions the public have on Venom and myself."
"Absolutely and it's been a pleasure, this interview will be in the papers soon." He took her hand and shook it. I'm not sure he's doing this just to help you, Ash. Will you cut him a break already?!
Already on her bike, Ashley made her way back to her house when she passed the site of the fight. Construction staff were there, repairing the broken walls and floor. "If I could pay back the damage..." She muttered, fixing her attention back to the road. Ashley made her way through the motorway when she realised that a certain 'voice' was being awfully quiet. Passing the library, she parked her bike and entered already looking for the horror section.
"Are you that mad V? 'Cause of Eddie Brock?" She muttered, looking around as she grabbed a book from the shelf, hoping no one caught her talking to what looked like herself. Ashley found a comfortable sofa and sat down, opening the book. She was absorbed in the book when a voice startled her. Yes. He's getting on my nerves.
Putting the book down beside her, she brought out her phone and continued talking. It looked better, at least to Ashley. Sighing, she spoke,
"Why? Is it because I'm paying less attention to you?" She asked, 'speaking' into the phone. Well... Yes. It's odd, you were more interested in him. Venom seemed to mumble, his voice dismissive. Ash chuckled. Why don't we go to the bathroom? We can talk easier there. Ashley proposed, putting her phone away. Perhaps seeing Venom face-to-face would make the exchange easier.
Closing the door, Ashley sighed and looked straight in the mirror, where Venom was staring back at her. He looked like he trying to read her expression. Rolling her eyes and exhaling, she looked to the floor and back to the symbiote. He seemed to look down once their gaze met. "Ok, what's the problem dude? Is it something to do with my little interview?"
There was a nod from the symbiote, he seemed to behave the same way an insecure partner in a relationship would. Venom didn't seem as intimidating as he used to sound- not that Ashley was intimidated by him anymore.
"Yes, yes it is. I've...grown attached to you in the little time we've spent together, Ashley. I might not show it, but I do see myself in you. " He admitted, waiting for his host's response. There was a silence, then Ashley grinned. She was expecting Venom to go on some spiel that 'She wouldn't be able to go anywhere or do anything with anyone'. It was a pleasant surprise.
The journey home was quiet; a comfortable silence had passed between the pair.
...Where are we going? To see Jessica! She's going on a date and wants help.
Alright.
The conversation ended and Ashley murmured something along the lines of, "Should buy some food on the way home then.." before she parked up in front of her friend's home and knocked.
The door opened slower than Venom would've liked, Jess standing in the doorway with her hair up and a mug of hot chocolate in hand. Walking in, Ash set her bag down in the living room and sighed. "So, the date's today and you just woke up?!"
"Yeah...it's in an hour" Jess answered, to a very surprised and frustrated Ashley Barren. Granted, after hearing Ash rant for 20 minutes, she knew her friend had a point. Waiting until the last few hours to prepare was crazy. Vanishing for two minutes she brought the outfit she was preparing; a knee-length purple and black dress, paired with Vans and a peach cardigan.
That's a good outfit...who is she courting?
We call it 'dating' now, and I'll ask.
"Hey, Jess?"
"Yeah?"
"Who's the lucky guy hmm? I still don't know~" Jess blushed at Ashley's question/teasing and grabbed her phone, unlocking it and showing her the photo. There was a pause before Ashley heard Venom almost scream in shock.
THAT'S THE REPORTER!
HOLY SHIT!
