"Hello Babe" Jace voice booms through the phone once I pick up the call and the room couldn't get any brighter

"Thought you'll be speaking some hot French by now" I tease

"You're kinky lately or I'm I just too hard to resist?"

"Don't flatter yourself baby it's none. It's just your mind that can't process a simple joke" I say and I know he pouts instantly even though I can't see him

"You bruise me"

"And you're a crazed child"

"Only for you baby" he says and my heart flatters

"So when are you coming back?" I ask

"Tomorrow" he says

"Then you could meet Thomas then"

"He's still around?"

"Yeah. He's staying for a week. I could arrange a dinner, besides, my mom has been wanting to meet you and have a proper conversation"

"Really?"

"Yeah. Why are you surprised?" I ask, baffled

"Nothing. Forget it. Just tell me when and I'll be there" he says and I can't help but feel a little off at his sudden change in mood. It was just a few hours ago that I told Gideon that he's someone who doesn't change moods within two minute, I hope my words don't bite me in the butt later

And what if they do?

Maybe you could shut up and they won't. Anytime I feel she has given it a rest, she appears. I've never encountered an annoying subconscious my entire life

"Hello?" Jace's voice pulls me out of my inner irritation

"Yeah sure. So tell me how has Paris been? How's the conference going?"

"Great. I think the contract is already mine" he says and I don't miss the cockiness in his voice

"So mom, when was there last time you spoke with dad?" Thomas asks over a prepared dinner of rice with beaf sauce and I shoot him a glare not to. Why do I even bother?

"It's been a while honestly. I'd have to call him sometime" she says, dismissing the conversation with the time of her voice, knowing fully well this isn't gonna go well

"I spoke to Jace today, and since Thomas is here I was planning if we could all have dinner together, get to know him well maybe like you said?" I ask mom, changing the topic of conversation before this dinner goes down hill, it's already sideways

"That's great. I've been wanting to meet that young man, it's high time someone approved" mom says and I offer a small smile

"Don't worry, there's nothing disapprove actually"

"Is that the boyfriend then?" Thomas asks

"Yeah" I say and pick my plate from the table, along with everyone's

"So what are we doing tomorrow?" Thomas asks when we all pile into the TV room

"I was thinking maybe we could go to the beach. Brandon you could invite Beverly and she could call up the others, I'll just call Annabel"

"Who's Annabel?"

"Jace's sister"

"That sounds like plan" he says and I know just what he's thinking

"And tomorrow sounds interesting" I say and chuckle
