when paige first entered the asylum, she immediately wanted to go home. she didn't like how the walls were all a dark brown colour, or the dust that collected on the window. she didn't like the massive window at the top of the building either.
"welcome to briarcliff, paige. im sure you're going to love it here." the nun said with a fake smile on her face.
"thankyou." paige replied with an equally as fake smile.
"sister mary!" she shouted whilst looking up the stairs. "please show our newcomer to her room."
paige heard a door open and close and foot steps and suddenly a small blond nurse came running down the stairs.
"welcome to briarcliff!"she says in a cheery voice.
paige can't be bothered to thank her so she just sends her a soft smile and nods her head.
"please take her to her cell." sister jude orders and turns on her heel, walking up the stairs.
"so is it true that this place is haunted?" paige asks enthusiastically as soon as sister jude is out of sight.
she let's out a soft laugh before replying. "by ghosts? no. by humans? i guess you could say that."
-
it was now bedtime in the asylum and paige was not impressed. she was told the asylum would be good, but she was wrong. all the way from her cell she could hear screams and the whispers of the psychotic.
"hey. new girl." paige hears someone whisper from the cell next to hers.
she stands up from her bed and walks over to the bar.
"hello?" she whispers back.
"hi im luke."
"um, im paige." she replies.
"so what are you in for? most of the new people... they're usually crying on the first night. you dont seem very insane to me." luke whispers, peeping his head out the bar as far as it can go.
paige does the same before responding to him, "im not... my mum thinks im schizophrenic. but she's wrong, i just have a strong imagination. what about you."
"i enjoy pain. all types of pain. im pretty insane. but at least I can admit it unlike half the people in here." he says calmly with a short laugh at the end.
"luke, youre freaking out the newbie." a soft voice groans from the cell across from paiges.
"no im not, daisy." luke huffs before walking away from the bars and sitting down on his bed.
"has anyone ever escaped from this place?" paige says to nobody in particular.
"I think somebody escaped in 1922, hut that was like 25 years ago." a voice says.
"who said that?" paige asks.
"im michael."
"im paige."
-
"wake up everyone!" a loud voice interrupts paige from her dream about dancing with the hottest boy in her okd apartment block.
paige opens her eyes, squinting slightly at the bright light shining through the small window at the top of her dirty cell.
she hears a clinking noise and looks to the door, which is being unlocked by sister jude.
"hello, paige. how was your first night?" she says, with yet another fake smile on her face.
"it was okay, I guess."
she exited her cell and started walking along the hall down to the small cafeteria like room. suddenly she felt a hand on her back and turned round to be faced with one of the most attractive boys she had ever seen.
"paige?" the boy says, and she immediately recognises his voice.
"luke?" she asks and he nods. "you dont look anything like I had imagined you to look like."
"thats what they all say."
once they reach the cafeteria, luke leads paige over to a table in the corner where four people sit. they both sit down and they all introduce themselves.
"im michael, i spoke to you last night." the first boy says.
"im ella, i was supposed to go home ages ago but they won't let me." one of the girls says, with a frown on her face.
"why won't they let you leave?" paige asks, letting her curiosity take over her.
in the space of ten minutes paige learned that once you're in briarcliff, you're stuck in there, daisy is schizophrenic, ashton was put in because of his depression and that luke hemmings has the most psychotic laugh that paige has ever heard.
