Your POV"There, the last one"
I said to myself as I stood and cracked my back. Looking around the new house that I started renting to buy, I decided to start working on unpacking the kitchen first. Grabbing my box cutter I opened the first box as I started to unpack the dishes that were in it.
After a couple more boxes I heard the doorbell ring. Walking around the island I made my way to the door. I opened the door and smiled gently as I looked at the blonde that stood on my front stoop.
"Hi, I'm Beth Smith. I live across the street with my son and daughter and my father. I just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood and maybe dinner? Tonight?" she asked as she stood there and smiled.
I smiled gently as I stepped out with her. "I'm (y/n), it's nice to meet you. Dinner sounds great. Lord knows my entire kitchen is in boxes" I said as we shared a short laugh.
"Dinner starts at 6, you can wear whatever. You can bring something if you like, but I won't hold it against you if you don't" she said as she made her way down the yard.
"That sounds good, I'll see you tonight." I said as I waved. She smiled and waved as she went back across the street. Making my way back inside I stretched and looked at the time. It was only a little after two and now I had to think of what to wear.
I grabbed another box and unpacked my coffee maker and toaster before I went to get changed. I went upstairs and slipped into some dark jeans and my tennis shoes with a plain tank top that hugged my features. I grabbed my keys and phone before I locked up and made my way across the street. Getting there just at 6.
I knocked on the door and a red-headed teenager opened the door. "Mom, the neighbor's here" she said as she let me in before she looked at me. "I'm Summer," she said as I smiled gently. "I'm (y/n)."
She smiled and walked off to help her mother as who I was guessing was her younger brother. He seemed nervous as he walked over to me. "I'm M-morty." he said as I smiled at him. "I'm (y/n)." I said.
With that, we were called into the dining room where the plates were already set out. I picked a seat next to Morty while Summer sat on the end of the table while Beth was on the other. There were two empty chairs across from us as I looked at the rest of the family.
"Dad! Dinner is done" Beth yelled before there were a couple of slams in the garage and some mumbles as a door opened and an older man turned the corner. He stopped and rose a brow as he looked at me. I waved gently as he sat down across from me, leaving the other chair empty. I glanced at it and wondered who once sat there.
I started eating as the rest did and it was pretty good. After not having a home cooked meal on the entire move over here, it was nice. "Dad? Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" Beth asked as she put her hand on her dad's.
He looked at her before he sighed heavily and took his flask out. "I'm Rick Sanchez, I couldn't care less about meeting you since I'll probably forget your name in a couple hours." He said as his daughter rolled her eyes.
"He doesn't mean it, he's just.... tired" she said as she looked over to me. "I don't know, but it isn't like it would matter anyway, considering he doesn't have a lot of years left" I said as I smirked gently.
He glared at me as Morty and Summer laughed at what I said. After he finished his dinner he stood and kissed his daughter's forehead before he flipped me off and went back to the garage. I chuckled gently before we finished dinner. Beth leaned over to me as we were cleaning up. "Sorry about my dad, he's usually not like that" I shrugged gently. "I'm not all worried about it, not everyone warms up to me right off the bat" I said She smiled gently before she leaned on the counter. "Well, you're always welcome over here."
Rick's POV
I can't believe she said that to me, I thought as I looked for a screwdriver. After I found it I used it to finish tightening up my portal gun and a couple of other things. I stood as I turned with my portal gun. That was as the door opened and I rose a brow as that girl walked in. "What? Can't you see I'm busy avoiding you in here?" I asked as she rolled her eyes.
"Whatever old man, I'm (y/n) and I love across the street. If I see you getting the mail or watering the lawn, I'll make sure to flip you off" she said before she walked inside. I leaned on the counter and sipped on my flask. I shook my head as I opened the door to see her flipping me off as she walked across the street. I waved her off and went back inside.
A Week later~
I was walking by my living room bay window when I saw the roof of the garage explode. Panicking I ran out of the door and dashed across the street, almost being hit by a car. The garage was open as I ran into the frame for the door. I looked around as I saw Rick coughing a little and fanning some smoke out of the garage with his lab coat.
"What the hell were you doing?"
I ran over and grabbed his face as I made sure he was alright. Looking to what was causing all the smoke, I rose a brow as the box sizzled a little.
"I'm fine, go home."
"You almost blew yourself up!"
"So what? That's every Tuesday for me."
"And what's Friday? Putting a laster gun to your head?"
"I could do that, that way I don't have to live with the fact that you're still pissed with me."
Furrowing my brows I rose my hand to smack him.
He shook his head and turned back to what was on the counter. Grabbing the screwdriver to his left.
"You know, I'm not pissed at you. I thought you were pissed with me."
"If I was do you think I would have gone over to your house like I did?
He snapped around to look at me before he grabbed his flask off the counter. I grabbed it and looked at him. "Enough of running from your emotions. You're smarter than that"
"And what am I supposed to do? Do you know how much it hurts knowing that you're across the street and don't want to see me?"
"Don't you think that if I didn't care or didn't want to see you I wouldn't have ran over where when your dodad exploded? How ignorant can you be?"
He shook his head and sat down. "I think you should just leave."
"Don't push me away because you don't like your feelings. Don't you think maybe I haven't been over here because I love you back but don't know how to tell you?"
Slapping my hand over my mouth I started to make my way out to the garage before I was grabbed. Turning around Rick pulled me back over to him as he wrapped his arms around me. "What was that?"
"N-nothing"
"You're a terrible liar" he said before he leaned down to my height. Being almost 20 he could technically do anything he wanted to me right about now. What would my parent's think? What would Beth, Summer, and Morty think?
I was cut off of my thoughts when he kissed me. I blinked a little before I kissed him back slowly. I felt my heart thumping away as he pulled away and smirked gently.
"Was that so hard?" he asked as I rolled my eyes. "Shut it Sanchez" I said before he chuckled ad pulled me back in for another kiss
