Daniel turns the wheel as his other hand rests on my inner thigh. He lightly hummed an unfamiliar, muttering the world 'unbelievable' every once in a while. He'd been calling me that recently, he stayed focused on the road that I didn't recognize.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"To get ice cream," he replied.

"It's three am," I say, "We do not need ice cream."

"Okay mother," he mocked.

I roll my eyes, "Speaking of mothers, when do I get to meet yours? Anna said she was here but we never saw her."

"Tomorrow," he says, "She'll come over, just act surprised."

I nod, "She seems nice over the phone."

"She'll love you," he says, "Don't worry."

He pulled into a parking lot and I look up at the door, a 'closed' sign hanging.

"It's not even open," I say.

"I know," he says.

He looks at me and he looked a little angry. Worry washed over me as I looked at his expression.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"Leilani's dad called you," he says, "He didn't sound too happy with me."

"Why'd you pick up?" I ask.

He pulls his hand off of my thigh, "Because I knew it was him."

"Baby, I'm so sorry," I say, "But he means nothing to me or Leilani. I told her about him and she doesn't even want to meet him."

"I'm just worried," he says, "I know I have no right to say this but I don't want him being in Leilani's life, especially not when the twins are born."

"He's not going to be," I say, "Where is this coming from?"

"He said he was going to get Leilani back," he says.

"Oh," I say. I place my hand on his cheek and rub my thumb along his face. I notice his eyes were red and glossy. I give him a sad smile, "It's okay to cry, it's just us."

He nods and blinks a few times, a tear falling and hitting my thumb.

"I don't want to lose you guys," he says.

"Oh no, no, no," I whisper, "That won't happen."

"I probably look so stupid right now," he says, "Crying because some guy called you."

"You're being vulnerable," I say, "And that's the most sexy thing ever."

"You think snot and tears are sexy?" he laughs, wiping his eyes.

"It's my biggest turn on," I say, laughing with him.

"You're unbelievable," he whispers.

"I love you," I say, "Now let's go home."

He nods, "You sure you don't want ice cream?"

I laugh, "No thank you."
