Kiera pov
It had been two months since April's surprise visit. Kiera had been a nervous wreck since then. Not knowing if April would keep quiet or not, it was hard to keep a talkative person quiet for long. April was one of those who couldn't keep a secret for long and it would only be a matter of time before things blew over. Kiera had made her promise not to talk to anyone but Chase was another problem, he hadn't promised anything. In the end they all went to the gallery together and spent the weekend together.
Once they left she packed up again to go to the mountains. She extended her stay to two months instead of one, not wanting to face anyone just yet. She had returned just a few days ago. The trip hadn't helped her relax much but she had an excuse to keep her phone turned off.
She had tried to keep her mind clear but she dreaded the consequences of her secret. The worst part was that she had made a mistake at not answering April's calls sooner. She made the mistake of accusing Ash for something he wasn't guilty of. She had cried so much for her rash decision instead of confronting him. He wasn't married, or at least not anymore, and he didn't have a child. She felt so stupid and ashamed for accusing him of being deceitful and unfaithful to his wife, and her.
Who knew if he would even talk to her anymore for the way she acted. She wanted to tell him what she had heard and to apologize for what she did. Yet she was too much a coward to pick up the phone and call him. April had told her to call him several times but she just felt so guilty. Too guilty to even say one word to him. What if he dismissed her and not want to do anything with her now. It was frustrating trying to gauge his reaction on her own. What she needed was help from someone who knew him better, but who?
She startled when her doorbell rang. Perplexed at who it might be, she nervously went to answer the door. She looked through the side window besides the door and stilled. Her father stood there, tall and proud in her doorstep. With shaky hands she opened the door and smiled nervously at her Alpha, her inner wolf cowering in the corner of her mind at the guilt she felt.
"Kiera, sweetheart. Your looking as beautiful as ever. How are you doing?" He said cheerfully, smiling at her as he stepped in to hug her.
Kiera hesitantly hugged him back as she stepped aside to allow him to enter.
"Hello father, I wasn't expecting you. Um, how was your flight?" She stammered quickly.
She didn't know what he was doing here. She never received a call that he would be arriving or passing through. Could April have anything to do with him being here?
"I'm sorry for not calling before coming, but I thought I'd give you a surprise."
Kiera felt more then surprised, she was shocked and scared.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Are you doing anything today?"
He seemed at ease, maybe too at ease. He wasn't demanding an explanation or accusing her of being reckless, it was as if he already knew.
"No, I don't have anything important to do today. Um...could I get you anything to drink?"
"No, I'm fine sweety. Actually..."
Oh no, here it comes, Kiera thought.
"I have an important business lunch in two hours and I was wondering if you cared to join me."
Kiera was taken aback, this was not what she had expected to hear. It was actually a relief that he wasn't here exceeding some explanations.
"Um.. I thought Karla went with you to all of your business meeting?"
