New Recruits

4 | game night ;)

"What game first?" Steve asked.

"I was thinking Mario Kart?" De suggested.

"What's that?" He asked. Unfortunately, since he was the ice, he didn't know too much about video games. Even though he'd been out for a good amount of years now, he hadn't had much time to learn about games. 

De handed him the game's case. He read the back of it as she popped the disk into the Wii. She handed one controller to Steve, one to Tony, one to Nat, and kept the other one to herself. The boys looked confused and had no clue what they were supposed to do, but the girls were ready to win. Thalia, Peter, and Hailey all sat down next to them and explained what to do while Clint and Tony sniggered to themselves.

Once they had learned how to play, De started the race and all 4 of the cars began to move.

"Go! Go!" Thor yelled at his small, turtle avatar. 

"Why is my car going so slow?" Steve yelled, confused as to why his large car with small, wooden wheels was taking forever to go across the track.

"You chose sucky wheels!" Peter exclaimed, laughing.

"I didn't know that mattered!" Steve exclaimed.

"You guys are all awful." Nat scoffed, passing the computer player that held first place.

"Thanks." De laughed as she passed the computer player in second. The race came to a close, Steve coming in 12th, Tony coming in 6th, De coming in 2nd, and Natasha coming in 1st place.

"Ha!" Nat exclaimed, dropping her controller in triumph.

"Now what?" Steve asked De.

"Well since we lost we give the controllers to other people, and Nat keeps her controller and plays again." De said, handing her controller to Clint. Steve handed his controller to Wanda, and Tony handed his controller to Thalia.

De showed Nat how to start the next race, and the countdown began.

"Ha! I'm winning!" Wanda exclaimed.

"Not for long!" Clint yelled, quickly zooming past her into 1st place.

"I am going to beat you, Barton!" She exclaimed, passing him and reclaiming her 1st place spot.

"No! I'm going to beat all of you!" Thalia yelled, coming up from third place and throwing a shell at Clint, and passed Wanda.

"Not fair, Thalia!" Clint exclaimed as Thalia passed the finish line, almost throwing his controller in the air.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game." Thalia smirked.

"Ugh. I can't believe I lost!" Wanda sighed.

"You had first place for a while!" Peter smiled at her.

"You can't believe you lost?" said Nat, who hadn't spoken the entire race. "I can't believe I came in 5th place!" She exclaimed.

Clint angrily handed his controller to Tony, who was dying to play again, Nat handed her controller to Peter, and Wanda handed her controller to El, who sat up from where she was laying, cuddled into a ball at the end of the couch.

"I'm going to beat you all." Peter bragged.

"In your dreams, Parker," El mumbled, choosing Link as her avatar and choosing a motorcycle as her vehicle. Everyone laughed.

"Actually, Pete, I am going to demolish you all," Tony exclaimed from one of the chairs.

"You're all wrong! I'm gonna be the only winner to keep their place two races in a row!" Thalia boasted. Peter repositioned himself on the couch before starting the race. The countdown began and Tony accidentally began to hold his trigger too soon, and his car started late, which made him yell in frustration.
