"Sam, these are the kids," Steve said, introducing him to the teens. Hailey whispered something to Thalia, De crossed her arms, Pietro and Wanda rolled their eyes, Peter sighed, and El cleared her throat. "Are you all going to do this every time?" He asked. They shrugged. "They aren't kids. We just call them that." He said. "Happy?" They nodded.
"Good to see you again, Sam," Peter said.
"Yes, good to see you again!" Wanda smiled.
"Good to see you guys." Sam smiled. Pietro waved.
"Hi! I'm Hailey." Hailey waved.
"I'm Thalia." Thalia smiled.
"I'm De." De nodded.
"I'm El." El smiled slightly.
"You've got an army of teenagers, Steve." Sam laughed, walking to the cabinet to get a coffee mug.
"JARVIS" Steve asked.
"Yes, Captain Rogers?"
"Is Bucky on his way down?"
"Yes, Captain. He has just left his room and will be down soon."
"Thank you,"
"Who's Bucky?" El asked. Hailey shot her a look. "Sorry, I don't know!" She held up her hands in surrender.
"We explained this last night!" Hailey laughed.
"I'm like, 90% sure I wasn't paying attention." El laughed. In a moment, the elevator doors had opened and Bucky stepped out.
"Morning," He smiled slightly. Hailey stared at him before letting her eyes fall to the ground.
"Morning, Buck." Steve smiled. He introduced everyone again as everyone hoped this would be the last time. At least for today.
"And that's Hailey," Steve said, pointing over to Hailey. She waved and looked away from him.
"Hails says she knows you." De blurted out.
"De!" Hailey exclaimed.
"Hailey, you know Bucky?" Steve asked. This was just proving to Steve and to Bucky that she was, in fact, Kathryn.
"Well, yeah. I think I was at a HYDRA base with him a while ago." She said, looking down at the table. Everyone looked at Bucky for his response. He said nothing for a while and continued staring at the floor. He finally broke the silence, looking at Hailey.
"I was brainwashed before I left the base for the last time. I can barely remember anything that happened at that base."
"Yeah, I know. I was there." Hailey mumbled. "I was brainwashed too." She sighed. She got up from the table and went to go sit on the balcony. The small balcony sat on the side of the kitchen, looking out at New York. She sat down on one of the four chairs and drank her coffee. Hailey didn't pay attention to the door opening or the person sitting down in the chair next to her.
"What base were you at?" For some reason, hearing Bucky's voice made her feel safe, and made the wheels in her head started spinning. It was like she was trying to unlock something, memories, she assumed, and his voice was helping.
"I was overseas for a while. You were there. I started at Omega down in DC, you were there for a while too, I think, then I came to the New York one where I woke up and escaped."
"You're eighteen?" Bucky asked.
"Yeah. Have been for a while." Hailey laughed sadly, drinking her coffee.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I've been eighteen for as long as I can remember. Well, I turned eighteen at one of the bases. I can't remember anything before I was seventeen."
