Chapter 4~Nightmares

Sans Pov

I woke up in a dark room, again. I sighed as I got up from the cold floor. Just as expected I saw a glowing red eye in the shadowy darkness. I could feel the darkness radiating from the demon as he walked towards me, still covered by the shadows not letting me see his face.

"So...I have to admit, i'm impressed that this timeline has gotten this far I thought that Brat you call a friend would have reset by now," the demon said, calmly. I roll my eyes.

"What do you want? Didn't I already tell you i'm NOT making that deal with you?" I ask, annoyed.

"Well you did but I want to know...

A black inky subtance pulled me onto the ground. My eyes widden as the scene around me changed. I was in Snowdin, hiding behind a tree as I saw Papyrus and Frisk.

"I see you are approaching. Are you offering a hug of acceptance? Wowie! My lessons are already working! I, Papyrus welcome you with open arms!" Papyrus says cheerfully. I wanted to yell at him, tell him to run away but I could only watch helplessly as Frisk pulled out her knife and decapitated him. I sunk to my knees, tears rolling down my cheeks as I watched Frisk walk away once Papyrus turned to dust.

The scene changed again this time I was back to when I was a child. I was by the core standing behind someone. I soon realised who it was and once again I could only watch helplessly as that demon took over me, running up to him and pushing him off the bridge and into the core.

"DAD!"I screamed as I reached my hand out to catch him, but it was too late I sunk to my knees again as the scene changed once, again.

I was now in waterfall and was a much younger version of myself. I was running ahead of my parents laughing but I knew that this was no happy memory. I soon stopped dead in my tracks when a rabit lady with pink fur stood infront of me pointing a gun to my skull. I could still remember the fear I felt that day when that happened and the sadness that followed. The lady pulled the trigger, I closed my eyes tightly, crouching down and covering the area where my ears would be if I had them. After awhile, I slowly opened my eyes to see the horrorfying sight infront of me. My mother on the floor with a shot wound on her chest. I cried hugging my mother and using the last of her energy she whispered to me, " Remember Sans always keep kindness in your heart and always re-remember that I am forever with you e-even if you can't see me and also never stop smiling, t-that sm-smile of y-yours can brighten up even the d-d-darkest of days." Mom then wraped her red scarf around my neck before turning to dust. I then noticed Paps sitting down beside me, crying I huged my little brother and cried together with him as my father fought the the woman that killed my mother. The scene changed again now I was in the dark room again and back to my normal self but tear tracks stained my face as I sat on the floor crying

"How many more times are you willing to stand by and watch as your loved ones get killed over and over again?" The demon asked.

"Shut up," I say almost a whisper.

"What?" The demon asked.

" I SAID SHUT UP IF YOU THINK SHOWING ME THESE MEMORIES WILL MAKE ME TAKE UP YOUR STUPID OFFER THAN LET ME TELL YOU THAT I AM NEVER TAKING IT UP THE LAST TIME I DID YOU FORCED ME TO KILL MY OWN DAD, SO JUST LEAVE ME ALONE NIGHTMARE!" I screamed through the tears. Nightmare seemed almost unamused by my sudden break down.

"Hah, leave you alone? I thought you had known me long enough to know that I won't give up so easily, but I will leave you alone...for now but keep in mind that I am always here wether you like it or not," Nightmare said and with that the black subtance holding me down pulled me down into the abyss. I couldn't breathe and as I sunk deeper and deeper I closed my eyes tightly hoping I would wake up soon.

"SANS WAKE UP! PLEASE WAKE UP!" Papyrus screamed shaking me. I opened my eyes and looked at him, confused. Paps huged me tightly. I soon pulled away and saw tears staining his face.

"Paps are you ok?" I asked him

"AM I OK!? ARE YOU OK?" He asked me.

"Well yeah I guess, wait why were you in my room in the first place?" I ask him.

"Well I heard a thud from your room and being the good brother that I am, I went to go and check on you, and its a good thing I did because when I entered your room you were on the floor unconcious!" He said tears begining to form in his sockets.

"I tried to wake you up but you wouldn't and I was s-so scared I thought you were-

I cut him off by pulling him into a tight hug while apologising non stop. He huged me back and we both sat on the floor crying. After a few minutes I pulled away, we both rubed the tears of our faces.

"Sans what happened?" Papyrus asked in a much softer and worried tone.

"I dunno, I guess I just blacked out I don't really know what happened," I told my brother but it was a lie I did know what happened but I couldn't tell him about that demon I just couldn't.

Just then, the phone down stairs rung, Paps got up and went to answer it, I also got up and followed after.

"Brother, Doctor Alphys is calling, she wants to talk to you," Paps told me as he handed me the phone.

"Heya Alph, whats up? Well besides the celling," I ask her.

"OH MY GOD SANS WAS THAT A PUN!" Papyrus yelled at me from the kitchen. I laughed and so did Alphys.

"W-well Sans I w-wanted t-t-to a-ask you s-something," she said suttering as she always would.

"Sure, what is it?" I ask her.

"W-well the King a-and Q-queen h-h-have a-asked me t-to b-b-build a ma-machine t-that can re-restore souls and I a-already h-have the plan so I w-was wondering i-if you could-

"Let me guess you want me to check back your notes to see wether the machine would work or not, right?" I ask her.

"Y-yeah," she said.

"Ok so when do you want me to come over?" I ask her

"N-now, if thats o-ok with you that is," she replyed.

"Sure just give me a few minutes," I tell her.

"O-ok," She replys before hanging up.

"So, what did Doctor Alphys want?" Paps asks me.

"She wants me to come over for a while to check on something so i'll be back later," I tell Paps as I slipped on my shoes.

"Alright brother, but are you sure you can go alone? I wouldn't want you to collapse suddenly like you did just now," Papyrus says worry returning to his voice.

"I'll be fine bro, it only happened once," I tell him.

We both say goodbye and I teleport to hotlands infront of alphys's lab. Chills ran down my spine as I remembered what happened here. I wonder...could I also use this machine to bring them back too, I would have to ask Alphys about this.
