Rain was slowly falling from the sky. umbrellas littered the street with the one occasionally poor person that forgot to check the weather. "Holly entity in the sky, It just gets worse every minute!" looking to your side made you see one of your colleagues , Jacob. A not that attractive male with really curly chocolate brown hair. the only person that spoke to you in this dreadful burger joint, but Jacob talked to everyone, even the one that never listened. "mhm" he looked over at you, big goofy grin in his face. "You really aren't much of a talker?" Playfully shoeing your shoulder "I don't believe I have hear you say more than a sentence at the time"
Letting out a quick sigh when he finally went back to mopping the floor and continued looking out the window from the counter. not many people came inn on rainy days like this, usually going through the drive through instead. two families ditching out on making diner, together wit a group of teenagers and a stressed out monster using the free wifi for his work was the only one filling the cold establishment. you were the only one managing the register while two others was inn the back making food and your manager taking over drive through. the sound off the sliding doors caught your ears and you looked away from the window to see if someone was leaving or coming. what you saw made you visibly freeze.
The new customer was a monster. you were not on the side that wanted to put them down underground, feeling they deserved to be on the surface. that didn't make them any less terrifying. Monsters had gotten strict rules when they came to the surface. no magic, no killing humans even if it was okay for humans to kill them, illegal for them to go into certain types of stores, yeah the race war was happening all over again. You didn't quiet blame the fear humans feel. these guys were fucking horrifying. not to mention what shot they went through in the underground. their king was placed in jail and was still sitting there after five three years.
Mentoring terrifying monster, the new customer fit every mark on of being terrifying. he was a large skeleton monsters. small scars and cracks liters his bones if you focused hard enough. his eye socket had two pinpricks that glowed a soft read. dark circle under his eyes witch questioned everything you knew about skeleton. His mouth with razor sharp teeth was formed as a snarl. clearly pissed about something. he wore a dark jacket that had fluffy fur around the hood and golden zipper, a red turtleneck, dark basketball shorts with a yellow stripe and read untied baseball shoes. rain was running down his skull and dripping from his soaked clothes.
The burger joint became quiet. the only other monster in the joint seemed to whimper and press himself more into the corner he was sitting. the parents quieted down their kid, one getting them from the play area. the teenagers became suddenly interested on looking outside or their phones instead of joking around and loudly singing out pop songs. trying to take a deep breath and keep your cool as the skeleton came over and scanned over the menu. Jacob had slowly moped his way over to the opposite side of the counter. Seems like he finally found someone he would not talk their ear off. "sor...sorry I didn't catch...catch that" you nearly whispers, noticing the skeleton had spoken. his brow furrowed "what. Don't say this place so shitty the employer ain't even listen to their customers?" his voice were deep with a hint of raspy smoker's voice. you quickly nodded, trying to creep tears from falling while he repeated his order. insulting you and this place under his breath while waiting on the food. you knew this was gonna be a bad day.
Coming home you just collapsed on your bed. to tired do anything else. tears threatened to fall through the day finally fell in the comfort in your room. hand hugging close a pillow while shaking from every emoting going through your body. cursing out your job, colleges, customers, the pissed off skeleton just everything. finally when the tears stopped pouring down like a waterfall made you realize your hunger. groaning before getting yourself a hot pocket before returning to the comfort and warmth of your bed and fluffy blanket. eating in silent. not a sound except the cars driving past the apartment building. the distant sound of dripping water from one of the sinks. laughter and cheers from someone having a party and gathering. god you feel lonely right now.
Looking over at the nightstand at your phone. swallowing the last bite of the hot pocket and reaching over for your phone. fingers gliding over it. you had done this multiple times before, but it always left you a bit nervous before they picked up. usually doing it on a bad day or when you feel lonely. this time, it was both cases. you never talked to the people again, and they never knew who you where and you never knew who they were. which made it easier to talk to them. writing in random numbers and pressing the call button.
