I limped from tree to tree, my umbrella in hand, not wanting to get wet from the downpour of rain that was hammering onto the roads and splashing against the green leaves of the trees. The sky was a grim grey, clouds covered any visible dull sky as the heavens opened and rain thundered in the ground. A cold breeze nipped at my cheeks and swept through my hair, sending a shiver down my spine and goosebumps to cover my neck. Going on this god damn geography trip was enough to make me depressed for the day, never mind turning up drenched from the typically awful British weather. Knowing I had to wake up early and walk in this weather all day whilst studying rivers and wildlife made me want to stay in bed and not go, but there was no chance of me escaping this one. I was already being closely watched by the head, not to mention I now had to look after Ryan, which was such a pain in the ass.

I walked into the school dry as a bone and shook my umbrella dry. I was actually really early for once and had ten minutes to spare. Slowly, I made my way down the silent, empty corridors, walked past my locker and into our classroom. Joe and Ryan were sat at the back, deep in conversation. I walked towards them and as soon as they felt my presence, their heads popped up like meerkats and their conversation instantly came to a stop

"Well, I wonder what or rather who the topic of the conversation was?" I asked sarcastically.

"You look really different" Ryan said, trying to change the subject. I rolled my eyes and sat down next to Ryan.

"Honestly you have the charisma of a God and you've only been here a week. Anyway, There's nothing different about me today"

"You're hair is down" Joe said

"Yeah, because it's cold and it's keeping my neck warm, as well as my scarf" Ryan looked at me, his eyes skimming across my face and landing on my eyes. He then turned away to look outside the window. I followed his gaze, but instead of looking out to the pouring rain, I looked at my reflection in the glass. My hair looked quite nice. It tumbled around my shoulders into red waves and ended just past my shoulder blades. You could only just see my freckles through my pale foundation, but I still looked natural and clean. However, my eyes stayed the boring silver-green they always had and always will be.

"What was wrong yesterday?" Joe asked cautiously. I sighed and turned around so my back was facing them.

"Chris wanted me to go around his last night to 'do some homework'" I said

"Aw shit he's onto you. Back away now whilst you can. Don't go near that player. My brothers pet rock has more personality than him" she ranted, noticed me rolling my eyes and settled her tone a little "What did you say back?"

"Well, I didn't reply because I was worried about what Kelly was going to say to you." I said. She nodded and I told her the full story. Ryan kept on staring out the window at the rain and said nothing.

"So it was my entire fault?" he asked when I finished.

"No. I told him what I'd wanted to say for ages so I'm fine" I shrugged in honesty "he's an asshole anyway, always has been, and I'd rather not get involved with him" We stopped talking when Kelly and her crew walked into the classroom, chattering and giggling loudly. Kelly looked at me and scowled.

"Oh look, you've made a friend for once Flame" Rolling my eyes, I turned around in my chair to face Joe. Even her face was pissing me off.

"Do one Kelly" Ryan spat and I gave an internal smile. Someone stuck up for me other than Joe. Not just anyone, a guy.

Kelly paused before continuing, "Surprised your dad could even afford to pay for this trip with your financial status" That tipped over the edge. Standing up, I clenched my fists, feeling them go warm and tingly and I heard someone else stand up behind me.
