Months went by after the whole incident. Johnny and Malissa were as close as ever. Not even their parents can make them be mad at each other like before. And even if they were mad they told each other instead of keeping it in.

After a few years Malissa moved out and got a house of her own. Johnny lives with her but rotates from her place to the Curtis house. Malissa doesn't go by their house everyday, but every week she makes sure she's there at least once. She has to see her family.

They don't go to their parents house. They've walked by and can still hear the continuous yelling. It's probably something that will never stop.

Johnny and her have went out of Tulsa a few times. To get away from their old life. They even went through the town Malissa went to for that week. It only brought back painful memories. She told Johnny about it. Not about what happened—she only mentioned the town. Johnny didn't press her on, knowing she probably didn't want to talk about it.

Malissa never really talked about those days and neither did Johnny. It was a painful subject that neither of them wanted to remember. But sometimes Johnny thinks he drove her away. Not just by what he said that night of the beating, but by how he was acting before. When he envied her. He envied her for being loved more by their cruel parents. He hates himself for that. He never forgot that.

"What's wrong, Johnnycake?" Malissa would ask.

"I just feel guilty. Sometimes I think about you leaving and all. I think it's my fault."

"Well don't. It's not your fault and it never was. I just wanted to leave, you know that. Please don't blame yourself." She would always tell him that. That it was their parents. That it was the Socs. The town.

After a few years Johnny ended up moving out. He only moved a few houses down. He wanted to stay close to family, and of course he wasn't leaving Tulsa. That was established years ago.

They are both lucky to have each other. Of course not everyone's life is perfect. Some people don't have any family to turn to. Malissa and Johnny always didn't, just each other and the gang. They just went through life day by day. No matter hard things got. They always have each other and the gang to turn to. They will always have each other.

A/N well that's it. The last chapter. I hope you enjoyed this story. I enjoyed writing it even though I did put it off a lot (sorry). I'm also sorry this chapter is short. I couldn't really think of anything. It was shorter then this but I finally figured out something to add to it.
