Betty POV- I shot straight up out of bed.

"Shoot. I'm going to be late on the first day of school" I thought to myself.

I turned and got a quick glance at the clock.

I wasn't late at all! Cheryl had me set my alarm 2 hours earlier so we could facetime while we get ready. It seemed pretty dumb to me, but it's better then being late I guess.

Veronica: Hey girlyyyysss who's ready for the first day!

She texted in the group chat with me and cheryl. We use that group chat whenever we are talking about one of our other friends or a secret no one else can know. I barely contribute to the conversations when they talk about some of our other friends though, I feel guilty. It always just turns into Cheryl and Veronica going off on somebody and blowing up my phone while they are at it. Sometimes I wonder if they talk about me to other people.

Cheryl and Veronica are my best friends. Our relationship is difficult to explain. They never tell me to my face how fat I am, or how lame I am, they just make me feel insecure about those things. That's the downfall of being friends with crazy popular rich girls.

Guys are always the first to flirt with you. Because they see you as the less intimidating one. Yes, I know that I sound like a complete snob complaining about guys flirting with me, but to be honest, being popular isn't all that great. Well at least it's not when you aren't the leader of your friend group. Without Cheryl or Veronica, my status at school would automatically go down. People would still know me, but they would probably see me as no fun. Just the teachers pet, with a 4.0 gpa, and a dream to become a journalist.

We help each other out though, I keep them from getting into any trouble with the students and teachers, and they keep me relevant and "fun". It's funny how much our friendship works so well together. Cheryl replied a couple minutes later.

Cheryl: Meeeee!

Cheryl: Betty and I were supposed to facetime while we get ready, Veronica you want to join?

Veronica: What? XD

Veronica: Sure I guess...

Cheryl was by far the queen bee at our school. She's not a snob, but she is definitely the most praised. Though Veronica is the better friend. To me at least. When ever I am feeling upset, she is always there to listen. I try to be the same for her, but I don't know how well I am at it. Again, another way our friendship works out so well.
We FaceTimed until we all had to go down to eat breakfast. I chose a baby blue sweater and dark wash blue jeans the night before. Veronica thought that it was cute, but I could tell Cheryl was unimpressed.
That's another good thing about being friends with Cheryl, she always speaks her mind and gives you an honest answer. Veronica was wearing a simple black dress with a white collar, pearl earrings, black stilettos, and her signature pearl necklace. Cheryl was wearing a red plaid skirt, a red long sleeve, knee high socks, a red headband, and her signature spider brooch. I put my hair up into my signature ponytail and went downstairs.
Polly was already downstairs eating pancakes. She was now homeschooled to take care of the twins. My mom only agreed to homeschool her for senior year and then she would have to go to university while she took care of the twins. We were all eating in comfortable silence, I wasn't all that hungry so I sort of just picked at my pancakes.
"Elizabeth" my mom said "You need to eat."
"I'm not that hungry, mom."
She opened her mouth to say something but my phone buzzed as I got a text from Cheryl.
Cheryl: Do you need a ride, cousin?
Cheryl: My mom got a new car and Tony is driving it to school today with Veronica.
Tony is Cheryl's driver, she has had tons of drivers in the past, but her mom fired them all.
Betty: No thanks Cheryl, I think I'm gonna walk
Cheryl: Walk?! Absolutely not. We need to show the freshman who the queen bees are ;)
Her text was a little stuck up, but honestly I was flattered she called us all queen bees. She usually just referred to that as herself. Plus, I could tell she was joking.
