Chapter 6 - Are You Asking Me About My Sex Life?

The date was set.

Although it was only Monday, the gang decided that this weekend, we would all go to the lake. It was also decided that we couldn't simply wait until the weekend to hang with each other outside of school. And so, after school today we were going to get ice cream, on Wednesday we were going bowling, and then on Friday we were apparently going for a walk around town, but from the scary looks on the boys faces, I knew it was something more than that. The rest of the days between were free.

And then there was, of course, the lake this weekend.

I seemed to think it was slightly overdone, but the only one who seemed to think the same way was Archer. Apparently this was the norm in the group. Ty didn't seem too bothered or surprised. Although, his face was expressionless, so he could've been feeling plenty and simply not showing it.

I just couldn't stop grinning. Although I did need my time alone, I had the many nights awake to catch up on my needed peace. It thrilled me that I could actually claim that I had things to do every day. My family was always complaining to me that I had no life outside of sport.

I shook my head out of the daydream I'd been in and very quickly realised that it was very likely I wouldn't be able to come. Knowing my sentimental dad, he probably wanted me back after school so we could have a nice conversation on how amazing school was.

Or how not so amazing it was.

But, either way, I knew that I wouldn't be allowed to go.

"You okay, Ver?"

I turned to Ty, who had his observant green orbs fixed on me. I nodded in confirmation, but didn't speak just yet. The group was still buzzing with excitement over the new plan, and I didn't want to kill the mood. I'd tell them soon, but not now.

"You know Ver," Ty mused, raising an eyebrow. "When I asked that question, it wasn't really a question. It was a question for what was obviously bothering you."

I scowled, ducking my head. "You act like you know me inside out."

"You are incredibly easy to read Ver. At least, if someone takes some notice of what you do in reaction to things. Which I do."

I rolled my eyes. "Are you one of those over observant people who notice everything and can't help but comment on it?"

An unknown emotion flashed across his eyes before they went blank. He sent me his trademark half grin. "Nah, I can keep it to myself. But yeah, I'm incredibly observant."

"And modest too, I suppose?"

"Obviously. I am the epitome of modesty. Can't you sense it in my air?"

"The awful smell?"

"Nah, that's from my flatulence."

I burst out laughing. In that moment, he reminded me so much of all the males in my family, including my dad. Guys and the pride with which they claim their farts. I would never understand it.

Ty grinned widely at me, seemingly proud he made me laugh. That just made me laugh harder.

After a moment or two, I cleared my throat and stood up, causing everyone to look at me with a questioning stare. I jutted my thumb out towards the exit of the cafeteria. "I'm just gonna make a call. I'll be back soon."

There was a chorus of 'okay' from my friends, and I made my way across the large room. Strangely, there seemed to be a lot of eyes on me. I could feel them burning into the back of my head, and I caught the glancing that the other students shot me. Probably just because I was the new girl.
