Chapter 3

When we joined everyone else at the riverside I saw Zander getting all friendly with Aurora. I could tell she was enjoying the company by the look on her face,

"Unbelievable" I muttered.

"It is really pretty, here" the handsome guy admired as he looked around.

"Yeah. It's a nice old pile of rocks and water".

He enjoyed my sense of humour which was great because that was the only thing going for me. I was not relying on my ass, that already brought me the wrong sort of attention. AKA Louis.

I walked over to where my towel was laid out and told him he could set up next to me if he wanted. I picked up the radio we brought with us and sat down with it. It was Nala's idea to bring it so she lugged it all the way here. I popped in a mixtape, full of songs that EVERYONE liked. If Nala had it her way we would be listening to Cyndi Lauper all day! Don't get me wrong, I like her songs, just not constantly repeated. Take On Me by A-ha started to play through the speakers.

"This is a great song!" I cheered,

"Eh, I've heard better" Zander shrugged.

"You mean all that Madonna you listen to in the shower?" I teased,

Zander immediately started to turn red.

"No!",

I laughed and stood up. Of course, I was going to go further with this.

"Like a Virgin, touched for the very first time",

I started singing while pretending to be my brother in the shower.

"Star!" he shouted,

He stood up and looked at me as if he was going to murder me.

"Shiiittt!!" I screamed as he chased me into the water.

He picked me up and threw me under. As soon as I got back on to my feet I jumped on his back, causing him to lose balance and fall in the water as well. We had started a war. Everyone else ran into the river to join us and started splashing and tackling each other. Violence doesn't always lead to bad things.

Zander was still trying to drown me though. So I ran through the water, with great difficulty, to the closest person. Turns out it was the handsome guy.

"Save me!" I pleaded,

Zander tried to make his way around the guy but he moved in front him.

"Hand her over, Alex" he commanded as he narrowed his eyes playfully at him.

So the handsome guy's name was Alex...

"What's the problem?" Alex asked, feigning a very serious tone.

"Being a bitch" Zander shrugged,

"Well in that case...".

I didn't know what he was going to do as he turned around to face me. We were so close that his hair was dripping on to my face. Then he started to smirk as he wiggled his eyebrows at me.

"Oh god..." I muttered,

And before I could make a break for it, he picked me up by my thighs and walked towards the deeper end of the river. I looked down at him and started to laugh and scream at the same time.

"Put me down, Alex!" I pleaded,

His smirk only grew as he continued to walk further into the river. The water was now up to his waist and covering my feet. 

'If it's this deep for him imagine how deep it would be for me' I thought, 'He is around 6ft and I'm just above 5ft'.

As I closed my eyes and prepared to be dropped into the water, I suddenly felt myself being slowly lowered down. I opened my eyes and looked into his. Even though they were dark they still sparkled. Alex continued to lower me into the water until it reached just under my boobs. I gasped, it was colder than I remembered. Thrown by this, and how close we were standing, I stumbled backwards. I then felt myself get pulled under the water by the current. It wasn't strong but enough to cause me to be disorientated. My head started to throb like it was about to explode, and I started to panic.

'Oh my God! I'm going to die' I thought.

Before I subconsciously let the water into my lungs I felt two strong arms pull me to the surface. I coughed and gasped for air as Alex held me upright. I finally opened my eyes to see his face written with concern.

"Are you okay?" He asked,

I just nodded and held onto his upper arms, feeling myself being pulled away by the current again. Alex noticed this and held onto my elbows as he slowly walked back to the shallow end. Once we were in knee-deep water he asked me if I was okay, again. Reassuring him that I was fine he bent over and sighed deeply. I didn't realise how much I scared him until now.

I crouched down so I was looking up into his eyes. He looked back into mine and I poked my tongue out at him. I stood back up, his gaze never leaving my face once.

"I think we should start fresh" I smiled, holding out my hand,

"I'm Star Verlice. Zander is my twin brother and he's... alright".

He hesitantly reached out and shook my hand gently as he introduced himself,

"I'm Alexander Moon. Sadly I have no siblings".

"You can have Zander. More where he came from" I joked,

Alex cocked an eyebrow at this statement.

"How many of you are there?",

"3. An older brother, Zander and a little sister. Although I have many family friends who are basically siblings to me".

"So you are all very close?" he smiled,

"Like you wouldn't believe" I smiled back.

I won't lie. I absolutely adore my family, all of them. They are always there for me and have the best stories to tell. I felt a little bad for Alex. I couldn't imagine my life without my siblings. It would be so plain and boring.

We started to walk back to the others who had already gone back on to the bank. They must not have seen my little episode,

'Thank God'.

"Hey, you know what I just realised?" I grinned as I looked over at Alex,

He looked back at me and smiled suspiciously,

"What?".

"Well, I'm Star and you're Moon",

"Very coincident, huh?" he grinned.

I looked into his eyes and nodded,

'I love the way he talks'  I smiled. 

I knew this was going to be the start of something. I don't know what, but I knew he was gonna stick around.
