We entered the diner and headed straight for a booth. Since it was a Sunday, and it was in the morning, the place wasn't busy. Except for an elderly couple and a family of 7. I sat on one side of the booth with Alex while Zander sat on the other side. He takes up a lot of room so he needs the whole seat to himself. I mean what is with guys and spreading their legs as wide as they can when they sit down? Especially in the car!

I started to throw sugar packets at Zander while we waited for Alex to decide his order. We go so often that we already know everything on the menu. I was laughing so hard at my brother, because he took a packet to the face, that I didn't even notice Alex tapping me.

"Star?",

I looked up and slowed down my laughing. He pointed to an item on the menu and looked at me,

"What does this say?".

I looked to where he pointed and smiled,

"Tater Tots?".

Alex nodded and waited for me to explain,

"It's a little potato thing that is deep fried so the outside is crunchy. It's really nice".

He still looked confused and I only smiled more, waving over the waitress. She came over and took out her notepad,

"Hi Star" she greeted.

Zander cleared his throat and raised his eyebrow at her.

"Hello Zander" she laughed,

Zander winked back and told her his order. She wrote it down and looked at both Alex and I. Alex looked a bit rushed so I spoke first,

"I'll have a stack of pancakes with maple syrup and ice cream. He'll have some tater tots. Actually, make that two stacks of pancakes. Also a jug of water, please".

She wrote it all down and collected our menus, leaving to relay the order to the chef.

"Thank you" Alex smiled,

I just shrugged and turned my attention to the group that just walked through the door.

I rolled my eyes and looked over at Zander.

"You're best mates are here" I said, sarcasm dripping from my words.

Zander turned to see who I was talking about and waved them over. A little back story on these 'friends' of his. They are basically the cool kids of our town, but not in a good way. They're tough and rough. The wrong crowd to hang out with, especially for Zander. They made their way over to our booth and one of the guys sat down next to him.

"Hey, Z" he greeted, doing that bro handshake thing,

"Hey, Chris".

He looked over at me and smirked,

"Hey, Starry. Looking sexier every time I see you".

When Louis calls me nicknames it's okay but when this guy does it, it's creepy as fuck. I shifted in my seat uncomfortably. I'm not gonna lie, Chris scares me. He laughed at my reaction and turned his attention towards Alex.

"Who the hell is this?",

"Alexander Moon".

Chris laughed loudly,

"Think you're in the wrong country, mate. Better go back to Mexico".

I scoffed at this comment and looked Chris dead in the eyes,

"Why don't you fuck off, Chris?".

He narrowed his eyes at my statement,

"What did you say to me?".

I was so scared but it was too late to back down,

"I told you to get lost. What are you deaf?".

Chris stood up slowly and looked down on me,

"You better watch your mouth, princess. Ain't no one talk to me like that".

He said goodbye to Zander and looked back at me for a final time,

"I'll see you at school".

As soon as he was gone I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

"Fuck, Star. You shouldn't have said that to him" Zander exclaimed, running his hand through his hair.

I wanted to explain that I wasn't going to let him talk to Alex like that, but I kept my mouth shut. Even though Zander is friends with Chris, he still knows how dangerous he can be. So I just slunk down in my chair and waited for the food.
