Chapter 6

I woke up the next morning with a massive headache.

'Shit! What did I do last night?' I thought,

"You drank almost a whole bottle of wine" Zander replied, as though he heard my thoughts.

I rolled over to face him, his bed is right next to mine with River on his other side. I widened my eyes as I looked at him,

"Are you kidding me? The whole bottle!?" I whisper shouted.

Zander nodded and looked at me dead in the eyes,

"It was actually Mum's bottle of wine".

I rolled my eyes at him,

"I knew that, dummy".

Zander narrowed his eyes at me and sat up in bed,

"Yeah, but did you know it was Mum's favourite bottle of wine?".

I shot up and looked at him in horror,

"N-no it wasn't. I m-made sure it wasn't" I panicked.

Zander only smirked and headed out of our bedroom. I sat there for a second tracing back to when I got it out of the cupboard when I realised something. It wasn't Mum's favourite wine, that little shit was just stirring me up. I jumped out of bed and ran after him,

"Zander!" I yelled.

He turned around just in time to dodge my tackle causing me to fly onto the couch. I stood back up and signalled that he was going to die. Zander laughed and ran into the kitchen. I followed him and was about to kick him in a place he wouldn't want to be kicked when Mum came into the kitchen with Leilani. We both looked at her and knew what was coming. Mum put Leilani in her highchair and signalled for us to go outside, so we did as we were told.

Mum is really scary when she's mad. That's why it's best to stay on her good side, and luckily that's quite easy to do. Except we weren't on her good side right now. As we waited outside for her Zander spoke first,

"We are in so much trouble".

"She's going to kill us. I swear, this time she really will" I almost cried,

Before Zander could respond we saw the front door open to reveal a very angry Mum. She slowly walked outside and stood in front of us.

"Now, I'm a reasonable person. You know that. So before any yelling is gonna happen, I wanna know the full story",

Zander and I looked at each other to see who was going to explain. But it was obvious that Zander wasn't about to throw himself under that bus. I cautiously looked at Mum and half smiled.

"Well you see," I started to explain, "I was going to the river with the girls to celebrate the end of summer and I didn't want you guys to put a curfew on me because I didn't want to feel rushed to get back home. So I didn't tell you. We went to the river and hung out a bit and then came home."

Mum cocked an eyebrow at me as I finished.

"That doesn't explain where you were Zander, or who either of you was with" she waited for more answers.

"I was out with James and Louis, just hanging around the arcade. Then we also went to the river" Zander explained,

"Don't forget Alex" I reminded him.

"Who's Alex?" Mum interrogated,

"A new kid in town. He was hanging out with us yesterday" Zander blurted out.

Mum then turned to me,

"I was with Aurora, Vera and Nala" I quickly said.

Mum sighed and looked at us both,
