Chapter 11

I jerked awake. Slipping out of bed I realized it was pitch black outside. I needed a breath of fresh air so I left my room and found my way out into the court yard. I suddenly remembered the conspiracy to kill my, I was such an idiot, why didn't I bring my sword. Murmuring came from behind the door back to the castle and I ducked behind a pillar.

"In a month, our Troops we'll be all up the border, they'll never see us coming"

"Yes, in just a month Lyth with be ours"

"I wish it was sooner"

I waited till the people were gone I then slipped away from the pillar of marble and towards the large wooden doors. Only back in my room did I feel safe. Things were moving faster then I expected. Aiden had told me that the king would have to get us married right before sizing Lyth. Maybe they were planning the wedding for right after. I tried to breathe. All of this was to confusing. I tried to sleep, but nothing would make me fall asleep.

When I finished my run with Aiden, Liam was training new troops, I was very tired. However I still asked the same question I had been asking everyday, can you teach me magic. It's a simple question, that Aiden had said not to every day, however today he nodded.

"Wait, what!"

"I think your ready Jupiter"

"I'm not arguing"

"I need to make sure though", Aiden pulled out his long sword and made a swipe in my direction.

"Oww, what you doing!", I said pulling my own sword out. I sung it out towards him, he ducked under, jabbing towards my stomach. I slipped on a loose stone and fell towards the ground, losing gripped of my sword. Aiden used my moment of confusion to get the sword near me. I scrambled towards the sword I had dropped. Aiden and his sword was catching up to me as I scrambled towards my sword. "Aiden stop. Aiden. AIDEN. STOP!" My swords was to far, I wouldn't make it. I threw my hands out and a burst of something bright white shot towards him. Aiden fell back on to the stones, knocking him out . "Aiden. Aiden! AIDEN! Aiden stop messing around. This isn't funny. AIDEN! AIDEN!" I shook him. Hard. Rain began to fall with my tears. Had I just killed him? What was that light? Every thing was beginning to lose focus. He open his eyes. I breath with relief, "Why THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?!!"

He let out a laugh, "you rember when your father died"

"Umm... yeah? Who would forget something like that?"

How is anyone this stupid. I grabbed my sword and before she would stop me I made a cut across her hand. As she went to hit me a ball of black, jet black, hurtled towards me, hitting me in my stomach and knocking the wind out of me.

She recoiled in fear and confusion"What was that"

"You." I said breathlessly, Jupiter looked down at her hands.

She shook her head in disbelief, "I didn't just shoot freaking lighting at you, that's impossible"

"No it's magic" I said casually, bring my fist up. I opened up my palm, a little flame had appeared. Jupiter leaned closer, in utter disbelief. I let fire confuse my hand, and the red, and orange waves sift up my arm, licking my chin.

"How'd you do that."

"With a little practice"

Jupiter looked down at her hand. Open and closing it frustration, "Why won't it work" she said with a furrowed brow.

"Your trying to force it to do something, magic is living, breathing, treat it like a friend"

"What, do you want me to talk to it?" I nodded my head. She looked down at her hands, and then shut her eyes tight. "Okay, Hello, Do you wanna... come out?" Jupiter glanced at me, confused. I motioned towards her hands, where the black ball was beginning to form. She jerked back, breathing hard. "I'm actually doing it" Jupiter whispered, looking up at me.

"Don't take your eyes off it" I said, noticing how the the black was creeping up her arm. Jupiter looked at it, fearful. The black had slipped out of her handsand onto the marble paving of the court yard. It clambered onto the pillars, "Jupiter. Stop it"

"I can't" she said, fear accenting her voice.

I strutted down the hallway. I had just come from the Queen's court. You couldn't call it a court, it was more a dinner party, with entertainment and drunkens. I was torn away from my thoughts when scream came from behind the large door to the court yard. I rushed outside, tearing my dress as it caught on the door. The prince was lying on the ground, a girl by his side.

"HELP!" The girl screamed when she noticed me

"What happen?" I asked, striding towards her

Shaking she managed to say, "I don't know", Normally, if it was any person laying on the concrete I would have just left them. But if the prince died, I didn't come to, I didn't want to be the one responsible. I took a long sigh.

She jumped back, startled as I took my hand and lifted the prince up in the air. My house specialized in telekinesis, and I happened to be one of the most skilled magic users in all of Ender. I floated him out of the yard and down the stairs, the girl who had been with him followed but her steps soon subsided. I rushed down corridor after corridor till I came to the infirmary. I practically bust the door down getting the prince in. I hadn't even checked his pulse.
