Later that day I went to my welcome ball, or some shit like that. I stared at myself in the mirror, Ivy had done a good job. I was wearing a scarlet dress, it was simple with thin straps holding it up. It had a huge skirt and my lips painted the same color.

By the time Liam had lead me to the ballroom I was already winded, the gaping wound in my chest wasn't helping.

"Do they have to make the corset so tight" I said.

"Can't it really hurt that bad?" Liam asked.

"You dick, you can try it own and see" I replied,  walking ahead to push open the door.

Liam pushes my hand aside, "be careful"

"I always am" I whispered, pushing the door open. The ballroom was more beautiful then the rooms I had been in before. It was larger than the room before, but had the same white marble and vaulted ceiling. The walls were lined with red and yellow tapestry. Their was a large wooden stage beneath the balcony I was standing on on which a band was playing. I walked down the stairs, well, more like stumbled as I was wearing five inch heels. I meet Aiden at the bottom.

"You look nice" He said.

"You said that last time, can't you just tell me I'm pretty already" I asked.

"What if I don't think your pretty?"

"Well then your lying to yourself" I answered. A song sounded from the band.

"I love this song"

"Would you like to dance?"

"Of course" he said as I look his hand in mind. Leading him into the center of the throng, we started to dance.

"No offense but I though you'd be a bad dancer" he said.

"Really? What makes you think that, if it that I'm a small town girl who never had a ballroom dancing lesson", we both let out a chuckle in reply.

"Mind if I have a dance?" A girl with red hair said, holding her hand out to Aiden. Aiden glanced at me, unsure. I mouthed sure and walked away. Standing on the edges of the dance floor I felt like I was gonna throw up, on top of the overly the overly tight corset I had just been spinning around, very fast. I pushed my way out of the room and headed down a deserted hallway. I reached the bathroom at the end of the hall and slammed the door closed as I launched towards the toilet. I good five minutes later I shakily wiped my dinner off my mouth. I wondered if I could stay in the bathroom till the party was over when I heard voices in the hall outside.

"I'll never have a chance with Aiden, I've spent years after him and it takes that Lyth bitch one day" the women said. I pressed my ear against the door.

"Don't be so quick to judge. We still have the deal with the King." The women said. I made sure their footsteps were far down the hallway before I left the bathroom. As I walked back I pondered what the two ladies were talking about, one day for what and what was the deal they had with the king.

As I walked into the ballroom I saw Aiden, his father, and the queen, on the balcony. The prince motioned towards me and I went up to the balcony.

"What's going on?" I whispered.

"Dunno" he said.

The music stopped as the king said, "May I have your attention", every one shut up. "May I be the first to introduce you to the crown prince's finance, Jupiter EverWell of Lyth" the king bellowed, pointing towards me. I almost threw up, again.

"DID. YOU. KNOW." I whispered yelled at Aiden in the hall.

"I had no idea Jupiter, I swear, because, no  offense, but I don't want to sleep with you-"

"Well that's something we can agree on-"

"And even if I did like you, I already love somebody else"

"Same"

"Your lying"

"It's not like you know me!" I said before stomping down the hallway. In my room I ripped off the dress, putting on a mint silk
sleep set. Just as I threw myself on to my four poster the door opened.

"Jupiter" Aiden said.

"Oh. It's only you, thought it may be my sanity"

"Jupiter, I didn't know"

"It's fine, I've only known you for two days, not like I trusted you before"

"So, your not mad?"

"Of course I am!" I said sitting up, "I don't want to marry you!"

"Nor do I"

"Can't you talk to your father"

"No, he only does what helps him, ending this 'marriage' would do nothing"

"I could leave, run away?"

"Nah, he'd hunt you down"

"So, we're stuck?"

"Yeah"

"Okay"

"Ah"

"O"

"Do you want to ransack the kitchen?"

"Thought you'd never ask" I replied. As we walked down the kitchen I asked, "So, this, women you love, who is she?"

"It doesn't really matter, I always knew I would never get marry her. Everyone in our family marries for power"

"Oh" I said as Aiden opened the door to the kitchen, "I bet your childhood was depressing"

"Yeah" He said opening a cupboard, "adding a older sister and fire powers to the mix made just a-"

"An older sister?"

"She died, when I was about ten"

"Why is it whenever I talk to you it's about something sad"

"Dunno, Do we have any cake?"

"Lemme check"
