When we arrived at the pixe swamp, I asked the driver to stop.
"Why it's like 15 more minutes on foot," he said
"You really know nothing about your pixies" I respond, "they'll steal everything off the carriage,
it's safer to walk"
"At least let me come with you"
"Fine," I said, as I hopped out of the carriage. I walked a bit under the thick canopy of tall oak trees. I then crouched down in the mud, opening up my basket.
"What are you doing?" the prince asked as I put out a slice of cake.
"Its to distract the pixies" I relayed cooly standing and brushing the dirt off my dress. I then walked deeper into the marshy undergrowth the prince tagging behind me like a doggy. Five minutes later I pushed a fern out of the way, revealing the luscious hill of the Eathear. Bright green grass sparkled in the pinkish glow of the dying light. I turned around to face the prince. I stepped back a bit, his face glowing in the light.
"It's beautiful" he breathlessly said.
"Thank you," I said, "um... you can go know.."
"If you don't mind, I'd like to look around Jupiter" Aiden answered.
"No problem," I said, "Come, you can meet my father, he's the one who owns this place. If he left me in charge of this place, for even a day, I'd by accidentally burn this place to the ground". The prince laughed, this his yellow eyes lighting up like the sun.
"So, you grew up here?" he said, as he trucked up the hill.
"Yeah"
"Lucky, growing up in a castle is terrible, you have no idea, it's always cold and people are always in your business, especially when your prince"
"I'm lucky" I retorted, "Your upset about having a huge castle, riches, the best tutoring, and your going to inherit a huge kingdom, and your whining about your life", Royals like Aiden would never under the hardships I would face, the moment we reached to peak of the hill. However, only because speaking to royal's in such a way was considered incredibly rude, I mumbled a sorry. He didn't answer.
We reached the top of the hill, the sky was dark and littered with various constellations. My father's wooden cabin stood in the shade of a large willow tree, smoke spiraling into the night from the stone chimney. I walked in the direction of the house, Aiden following close behind. I stopped in the shade, something was off, the door to the house was ajar.I ran towards it, my feet flying over the wet grass, my heart beating in my throat, my eyes treating up. If anything was wrong... if anything had happened to my father... I banged into the front door, knocking it wide open. My heart dropped from throat to my feet, as my eyes surveyed the scene in front of me, my father was lying in his own blood.I let out a blood-curdling scream, I feel to my knees, my shaking hands trying to grasp my father's dead wrists. Just as I feel on to his chest, looking for a pulse that wasn't there, two strong hands grasped around me and lifted me up. Sobbing I looked into Aiden's yellows eyes,"He's dead" I whispered, trying to wipe the falling tears out of my eyes using my crimson hands. Aiden looked over my shoulder, and let out a low gasp.Looking me straight in my eyes, he said, 'Jupiter, I know your grieving, but we need to leave. Now""What's going on..." I stuttered."We need to leave, and quickly," he said, pulling me forward. I stumbled after him, unable to see through the tears in my eyes. He pulled me through the door, and suddenly an arrow whizzed by. Aiden pulled me aside before I could find whoever fired it. More arrows flew by from the darkness, one hit me in the side, I fell to the ground, pain shooting through my body like lightning, Aiden dragged me onwards, he tugging me into the undergrowth. He then ran back towards the hill.I buried my head in the leaves, to stem the crying and the scent of burning. As I sobbed I could feel myself being lifted up and carried away, far, far, far away from this bad dream."I'm lucky" I retorted, "Your upset about having a huge castle, riches, the best tutoring, and your going to inherit a huge kingdom, and your whining about your life", Royals like Aiden would never under the hardships I would face, the moment we reached to peak of the hill, however speaking to a royal like that was considered one of the most disrespectful thing you could do so I mumbled sorry, he didn't answer.
