ASHTON'S POV

That night is a complete blank. All I remember is telling the guys and Luke not believing me, even though it’s true. I check my phone and see that it’s nearly 11 and there’s texts from all the boys and Hunter, our manager.

“We’re recording at 11?!” I stop there and start running home.

I bust in the door and see that it’s completely empty of life. I try ringing Calum, with no luck then switching to Michael, but then I hear a strange buzz coming from the coffee table. I walk to it and see his phone going off so I hang up.

I barely hear Luke answer after I try him a couple times because Cal and Mikey are yelling in the background.

“SHUT UP ITS ASH!” I hear him suddenly yell then dead silence. “Where you been? You’ve been gone for three days!”

“I must’ve passed out or something.” I say trying to remember the day I told the guys. “Anyway, where are you guys at?”

“The studio. You better get up here fast, Hunter’s furious,” Mikey yells from the background, which causes more yelling.

“Alright I’ll get there as soon as I can. I just need about 30 minutes,” I say before quickly hanging up and heading into the bathroom. I open my mouth widely to show normal teeth, but covered in blood. I scrub my teeth hoping to get the blood off before showering, but it causes even more blood.

LUKE’S POV

I hear the dial tone and sigh loudly putting my phone away. I place the headphones back on my head and hear the music flow through them then my voice flow into the microphone. Calum and Michael start singing too creating harmony in the air.

Ashton busts in the door in the middle of Close As Strangers, making everyone stop singing and stare at him. He looks like a mess.

“What?” Ashton says confusing looking at everyone’s blank stares.

“You look terrible is what,” Hunter says getting closer to investigate him.

“I was told to get hurry and get here so I did. Don’t blame me.”

“Well we should because you decided to disappear for three days without warning causing your album recording to be pushed back.”

“I didn’t mean to run away. Sorry I somehow turned into a-” he cuts himself off there and looks at us. All three of our jaws have dropped and in shock. He curses quietly realizing what he was about to say.

“Turned into a what?” Hunter asks looking at us then Ashton. He doesn’t answer so he asks again, but louder. “Just get to your kit.” Ashton obeys and sits behind his drums and picks up his sticks. I don’t take my eyes off him as he struggles to play his drums correctly to the beat of the song.

ASHTON’S POV

What happened in those three days? What’s going to happen if I can’t control this?

I hear Hunter yelling at me to do better, but I block him out looking around and hitting my drums, terribly off beat. I make eye contact with Luke as he’s singing and I quickly look away, but I can feel he didn’t. I keep struggling to play the whole day, and Hunter keeps yelling at me making it even harder to focus on playing.

“Just quit it already! Yelling at him isn’t going to help!! He’s been gone for days and you expect him to come back and be perfect!” Luke says to Hunter with a tone of anger in his voice. He then stormed out of the room with me following him.

“Luke!!” I yell down the hallway trying to stop him, which doesn’t work. I run down the hall and catch up to him getting in front of him so he can’t move forward. “What was that for?!” I ask trying to get a response from him, but he pushes me out of the way and leaves.
