As they were on the road, they spotted a dog heading somewhere.

"Hey Henry, that poor dog," said Yellow Bird.

"Where are we going to keep him when we get back to the ranch?" asked Henry.

"He can stay with us at our place, we have a fenced in yard," said Jason.

"Okay, Yellow Bird, be careful, we don't know if he is bad or a good dog," said Henry.

"I'll come with you," said Victor.

So they both got out of the truck and saw the dog.

"come on, it's alright, we're not going to hurt you," said Yellow Bird.

The dog looked at them and stopped.

"Wow he is huge," said Yellow Bird walking back to the truck.

"That's just not a dog, that is a part wolf and something else," said Victor.

"Wow, he is huge, or she," said Yellow Bird.

"It's a boy, wait here, I'll be right back," said Victor.

"Wait, don't leave me, this is a big dog," said Yellow Bird.

"Don't worry you will be fine, I have a plan," said Victor.

"Don't worry he says, this thing is starring at me," said Yellow Bird.

"Uncle Henry do you still have jerky left?" asked Victor.

"Yes here take the bag," said Henry.

"Thanks, here Yellow Bird hold the bag while I take some pieces and let him come to us slowly," said Victor.

So Victor slowly walked towards the dog, the dog started moving back every time they took a step closer. So Victor stopped and knelt down and held his hand out with a piece of jerky. Slowly the dog walked towards Victor very low with his tail between his legs and whimpering. The dog backed away slowly with his ears down and slowly again went towards Victor and finally, the dog took the jerky and walked away quickly and stopped and ate the jerky.

"Throw me the jerky," said Victor.

So Yellow Bird threw the bag towards Victor and he got another piece and he held his hand out. The dog slowly starts to walk towards Victor again, this time he grabbed it and ate it in front of Victor, then Victor slowly reached out to pet him, the dog slowly walked backward. Then Victor grabbed another piece of jerky and held his hand out, the dog took a piece again and Victor reached out again, this time the dogs' ears went back, and he lowered his head. Victor slowly reached his hand out and started petting the dog scratching behind the ears, the dog enjoyed that. Soon he gained Victor's trust, Victor leads the dog into Henry's truck, and they were headed back to the ranch.

"Okay dances with wolves, where did you pick that up?" asked Yellow Bird.

"I don't know," said Victor.

When they reached the ranch, Maggie and the boys' mother were sitting outside by the pool.

"There they are, I wonder how they did?" asked Maggie.

So they got up out of the chairs and walked towards the truck.

"Well," said Maggie.

"They did very well, we also brought home a guest," said Henry.

"Oh," said Maggie.

"Have a look," said Henry.

She looked in the back and saw the dog laying down.

"Wow, he's huge," said Maggie.

"I know he is, he is a mixed breed, part wolf and dog," said Henry.

The boys got out of the truck as did Yellow Bird, Victor opened the tailgate and stuck his hand out with a piece of jerky, the dog jumped from the cab and walked towards Victor slowly and sat at his feet.

"I think he finally warmed up to you Victor," said Henry.

"I think so too," said Victor.

The dog grabbed the jerky and was eating it. When he was finished he sat down again, Victor slowly walked up to him without the jerky, he reached out to pet him, the dog let him, his tail was wagging.

"Alright now the rest, one at a time, slowly reach out your hand to pet him, let him sniff you first," said Victor. They reached out one at a time and pet him, his tail wagged even faster.

"Hey welcome back, supper is ready," said Robert.

"Thanks, we will have a guest also," said Henry.

"Oh I see, he can eat until we get dog food," said Robert.

So Victor grabbed a bowl and put some food out and a bowl of water. Victor came back inside and ate.

"That's a big wolf-dog," said Robert.

"I know, what about the visitors? "asked Maggie.

"I don't think he will bother them," said Robert.

"Just keep working with him and he'll do just fine," said Henry.

"Well he won't be over here all the time he will be in our fenced in yard," said Victor.

"We will let him get used to it, then if he is trained and stays, then we can let him run around the ranch," said Henry.

"Sounds good to me," said Jason.

So they continued eating and talking. When finished Robert started cleaning up and everybody went home. Mother and the boys arrived home with the dog, they let him go through the gate. When he got inside he started running around and wagging his tail, he started sniffing around and hiking his leg on stuff.

"I think he's going to do just fine, he loves it here already," said mother.

"I think he does he is already making," laughed Jason.

"He is going to be a good guard dog," said Edward.

"Alright let's all go inside and get ready for bed," said mother.

So they all went inside, Victor grabbed a big heavy blanket and put it on the porch for the dog, the dog went towards the blanket and sniffed it, then he twirled and twirled and finally laid down.

"Good boy," said smiled Victor.

He closed the door and went inside and went to bed. The dog started howling, mother and the boys were awake in bed listening to that beautiful howl, Victor smiled and finally went to sleep.
