The Past Comes Forward

Shadows POV:

I see him and I freeze. Then everything I pushed away comes flooding back to me.

*Flashback*

The sun is shining. I'm in the back yard of the pack house the sun is coming through the trees making spots of sun and spots of shadow. My momma told me that she named me Shadow because I would lay in the spotty light of the trees.

Just then I see a butterfly. I chase after it and go into the woods. When I get in a clearing I jump up and collide with someone. I figure out that it is a male. He lands on top of me and sheer panic goes through me. I gently wiggle out from underneath him. I sit and watch as he slowly gets up. I lock eyes with his beautiful hazel eyes, they have a tint of red. He is a muscular, solid white wolf, he looks a little older than me. Then a jolt goes through me. I don't know what it means so I just brush it off.

Zander POV:

"How can you even act like this?" Dawn screams at me. "Because I don't care about your friends," I say nonchalantly. "Are you kidding me? So you never cared about the one you said you love?" She asks holding a growl. Now I'm livid. "I'll be back," I say trying not to snap.

I have been running my normal path. I have ran through three other territories. I stop to catch my breath. I see something flying out of the corner of my eye. I get down and ready to pounce. When I did I collide with another wolf. It wiggles out from underneath me and sits waiting. I look over and it is a girl. I have a small freak out in my head.

I get up after I'm positive she is no longer under me. We lock eyes and I notice that she is younger than me.

"Who are you?" She asks quietly. "My name is Zander," I tell her calmly, "what is your name?" I ask. "Shadow," she states. "Why are you on my land?" She asks concerned. "I was just passing through. This is the way I normally run," I tell her as I shift into my human. She does the same. We talk for a few hours about everything in and out. Then I notice it is getting dark. " Can I walk you home?" I ask gently. "Sure. But isn't that dangerous for you?" She answers. "I don't care," I tell her, and she blushes.

After I get her home I run back to my house. When I get home  I see that Dawn is waiting for me. "Where were you?" She asks with concern laced in her voice. "I went for a run because we were both mad. You know how that would have ended if I would have stayed," I say embarrassed.

I went to my room. I cant stop thinking about Shadow. Her wolf is gray and black and softer that anything I have ever felt before. Her eyes are the most beautiful sparkling blue, but they have a tint of gray in them.

My mom and Dawn rush in my room scared. It snaps me out of my train of thought. Dawn comes up to me and says "we are under attack." It shocks me. Mom is trying to block my door when we hear someone start to bang on the door. Mom comes and takes us toward the window.

The door brakes down and a man and two wolves come in. Mom pushes us out the window. I put Dawn to my chest so I would take most of the impact. I hit my head on the ground and everything goes black.

*End of flashback*

Zander POV:

"Who are you and what are you doing on my land?" I ask with demand in my voice. I stand a little taller. "My name is Shadow and I am just passing through," she says. She shifts and a couple seconds later I do the same. After I shift I grab her wrist. "You are coming with me." I demand.

 When I start pulling her towards the house she pleas me to stop. "Zander please stop. Let me go," she begs me. I stop dead in my tracks. "How do you know my name?" I ask confused. "I remember it from when we were kids. Don't you remember?" She asks grabbing my hand in both of hers. And everything comes back slowly. I have the same strange feeling as when we were kids. I now understand that the feeling means mate but I'm not going to say anything.

When we get to the pack house I take her upstairs. "Why are you taking me upstairs?" She asks. "I want to keep a personal eye on you," I answer. "Why me?" She asks another question. "Because you are not like the others," I tell her. "How am I different?" She asks offended. " You just are. Now quit asking questions and stay quiet," I snap. She just nods.

When we get to my room I hear footsteps. I push her into the closet just in time. Then door opens and in walks my dad. "We have a meeting. Let's go," he demands. "On my way," I say. I look at the closet then walk out of the room and shut the door.
