Dawn POV:

I watched as they argued back and forth about the fight. It kinda scared me a little, him going for Alpha. I mean, I knew he was already going to be Alpha but him fighting for it before hand, it kinda scared me.

Cole's father was also shocked at this proposal. "No, you will wait until you are old enough to take the position!" Cole's father screamed. "Father," Cole says calmly. "You cannot refuse a fight for Alpha." Cole states. Cole's father growls and glares at Cole.

"Very well." Cole's Father says. "The fight will take place tomorrow at noon." His father says through a sneer. He turns and trots off and Cole turns to me. He turns and walks away but I stay.

Cole looks back at me and says that we need to get back to the pack house. "I don't want to go back to that place," I say firmly.  "Please, I can't sleep without you at least near the pack house. And I need sleep if I'm going to win the fight tomorrow." Cole states wantingly. "No. I can't be near that house. It makes me feel....weird," I say quietly. "Just stay in the shed near the pack house then. Please," he says with desperation. "Ok, fine. I will only if you leave me alone tonight." I demand. "Fine", he gave up. And with that we start walking toward the pack house.

Once we reach the pack house, Cole shows me the shed. It was kinda old and slightly rusty but otherwise in great shape. I thank him and he shifts into his human form and walks inside. I watch as he walks away and was about to walk in the shed when I see Shadow sitting by the door, in her human form, watching me.

I can tell she wants to talk to me so I shift into my human form and kneel down as she runs over to me. She hugs me tightly and I hug her back. "I thought my dad was gonna hurt you." She say faintly. "No, he just wanted to talk." I reply. We both lay down next to each other and look up at the stars. A few moments pass before she speaks.

"Can I ask you something?" She asks. I shrug, "sure." She takes a deep breath before asking. "What was your life like before you came here?" I paused, thinking. That question hung in the air for a second. I had to think for a second, all my memories were flooding back into my mind.

"I felt....free, like I had no limitations. The ground beneath my feet or paws never felt so great. I could do what I wanted, but cautious about it. There was no rules or duties except to take care of myself." I replied. I glanced over to Shadow and she was looking up at the stars, listening to what I was saying.

"I wish I could live like that." She replied. I turned onto my side and propped myself up on my elbow, looking at Shadow. "What's wrong with your life now?" I asked. She looked at me and sighed "I have so many responsibilities and no freedom. I feel trapped." She paused and looked into my eyes, "I want what you had."

We talk for a bit more and she soon starts to yawn. I stand and help her up, "you should probably go to bed." I say as she stands. She nods and starts to head towards the house. I walk in the shed and shift into a small fox and curl up in a ball in the corner.

I soon find myself falling asleep....

Cole POV:

I wake up and go outside to see Dawn. At first I can't see her and sheer panic goes through me. I look around the shed and don't see her there either. Then I see my little sister and Dawn asleep in the sun.

Dawn lifts her head and stares at me, she nods once and I head in side for a light breakfast. After I'm done eating I go to the gym and prepare for the fight.

At 11 I go back upstairs, and to the kitchen. Dawn and Shadow are eating, I wonder why. "Why are you guys eating so early?" I asked truly curious. "We want  to watch the fight and not get hungry in the middle of it," Shadow explains calmly. I nod and grab a granola bar because I'm getting hungry again
