Cole POV:
She's my mate, I have to keep her safe.
This sentence kept repeating in my head as I ran through the woods, barely brushing against bushes that blocked my path. I stopped at the place where Dawn was last. I shifted back into my human form and picked up a little dirt that was on the ground. I rubbed it between my fingers, feeling what secrets it held. I dropped the dirt and shifted into a wolf, sniffing the ground. I had to find this scent and kill whoever did this to my mate.
When I suddenly find the scent, that same sour bloody scent that was on Dawn, on a leaf. I sniffed the leaf again, trying to find a trail. I sniffed everywhere then finally found the trail. Growling, I set off down the trail, sprinting as fast as possible and breathing hard.
I could just barely see the sight of a small cave's entrance. I ran even faster, I knew that the scent must lead into there. Skidding to a stop front of the cave, I sniffed the air. The sour smell came fresh and strong from the inside of the cave. The smell was starting to make me sick.
I know that if I go in there, I could die. I shook my head, no! It's worth it to kill whoever hurt my mate. I hesitate slightly before walking in quietly, making sure to make as little sound as I can.
Once inside, I look around and examine what I see. There was a faint color like glow coming through the cracks in the wall. Weird, the cave was carved out of a mountain. How could light be coming in from the outside? I shook my head again, I have to focus on why I'm here. I sniff the air one last time, everything smelled strongly of that scent so there was no use of trying to pinpoint where it came from. I started to walk forward, my ear pricked up, listening to every sound near me.
There were cave tunnels everywhere but I kept going straight. I soon walked to a very large dome like room. It was dark inside, except the red glow coming from the cracks in the walls and floor.
In the room, there were large objects or rocks scattered around the floor. I couldn't see very well, because there wasn't enough light, but I decided to stay away from them. I have no idea what it is and I don't want to find out.
In the center of the room, there was a large flat rock. It was about my height but there was some kind of liquid dripping off of it. I step forward and sniff it then stiffen. The scent of Dawn is very strong on this liquid. Dawn's blood.....
I walk up to it and sniff the blood again. A flashback of what Dawn looked like crossed my mind. She was covered in blood and claw marks. It made my blood start to boil and I let out a low growl.
I open my eyes and a rock hits me in the back of my head. I whip around, growing and barring my teeth. A darkly furred wolf stands before me, smiling evilly. It's teeth were sharp and he had a slight glint of red glow against his fur coat. He also had blood coating his paws, Dawn's blood. "Hellooooo!" He said in a high pitched voice. I growl in response.
"Who do I owe the pleasure of meeting today?" He asked. The evil smile on his face grew after he spoke. I growled again, this time lowering my head. His smile faded and he glared at me, "well?! Aren't you going to answer me!" He yelled, he stomped his front right foot as he said that. I growled louder and started circling him.
He glanced at the rock behind me then at his feet. He then looked at me and smiled, "you were drawn in by the scent of blood. Weren't you." I barred my teeth a little at him. He smirked at me, "did you know this young female?" He asked me. I kept my gaze strong and my teeth grew more open to show him my canines.
"I hope you don't mind I have her blood." He smiled more. I knew he wanted to fight, I could tell just by the way he acted. This made my wolf inside me angry and annoyed. "And..." He started again and I growled even more, I was about to just let my wolf take control.
