Chaoter 6 - bonding with Ratchet and meeting Starscream

A few weeks passed by and the three were still getting used to being a family instead of friend, Hailey was happy but she still hurt deep down.

Hannah was randomly practicing with some soccer drills and tricks, Hailey was reading the book she bought the day their parents were attacked.

Hailey kept reading the page about how to speak with the spirits, though was always reminded by Hannah why they shouldn't do it.

Ratchet walked up to them and they looked at him, he struggled for a moment with what to say to them.

"W-would you girls like to go out somewhere? On a drive with me?" Ratchet asked.

"Sure, I could use a change of scenery" Hannah smiled dropping her ball.

Hailey smiled and closed her book sitting it on the table she got up and followed Hannah down the stairs.

"Optimus I'm going out on patrol with the girls" Ratchet said to the Prime as he walked by him.

"Alright, be safe and have fun" Optimus said.

Ratchet nodded and transformed around the girls driving out of base, Optimus gave a small smile he couldn't help but show.

He was happy that his old friend took them in and was happy he was trying to bond with them.

"Master a signal appeared somewhere in the desert" a vehicon said.

".....Starscream go check it out" Megatron said.

"Yes Lord Megatron" Starscream groaned.

He stalked down the hall to the flight deck, no matter how many times he tried nothing was going to change for him.

He knew he had a fat chance joining the Autobots but what was the harm in trying for real.

He wasn't liked here or there really but he knew Optimus doesn't beat his team if they fail unlike Megatron.

"Ya right, I'll never find a good home...or have friends" the seeker sighed.

Ratchet found a nice place to stop at off the road, it was a quiet place with ruins on the ground.

"Hey look, old buildings!" Hailey pointed.

"Cool....this must've been some kind of yard or street...I mean it's an old dirt road, and a bunch of old ruined houses or something" Hannah said, looking at one that had more still standing but was still like the rest.

Ratchet looked at the ruins and hummed, he looked at all the vegetation that grew around and over it.

"Earth is something else" he mumbled.

"What do you mean?" Hailey asked.

"Our life and plants and whatnot were completely different, plants were a crystallized form, the ground all metal" Ratchet said.

The girls shared a look and frowned, they had a good clue Ratchet was missing his home, more than what anyone probably though.

"Well I don't know what cybertron was like but, I'm happy Your here" Hailey smiled looking up.

"You are?" Ratchet asked.

"Sure we are dad dude, if you weren't here we'd be orphans" Hannah said.

Ratchet smiled and kept walking, they saw a small building with crates and barrels, figuring it must've been a corner store before.

Starscream was up in the air when he found them, he flew lower and landed a good distance away from the medic and the two humans.

He didn't remember any new humans with the Autobots, but he never cared before so of course he wouldn't know.

Plus he was locked away in a dark room as a punishment for talking back to Megatron once or twice on a couple plans to destroy the Autobots.

He walked around quietly, he saw the same ruins they did, the dirt road, the plant life, and he saw them make a turn going into the forest a bit.

"Where are they going?" He whispered.

As softly and quietly as he could he tried to jog to catch up with them but remain hidden, he saw the three at a bigger pile of ruins.

He noticed how the girls were walking now and that Ratchet had his fingers to his helm, he was being commed, the Autobots at Base probably picked up his signal.

"Curse it" he mumbled going into some heavy bushes.

He heard a ground bridge open and three sets of tires come out followed by transforming, he peeked through to see Optimus, Bumblebee and Arcee.

'Of course she'd have to Be here' he thought.

The three bots walked up to the others, he heard them talking and how the girls were happily telling Optimus about the ruins they found.

He quietly snuck off back down the road and was walking slowly, arms swinging loosely at his sides, frown on his face.

His mind wondered to happier times, he didn't hear multiple sets of pedes coming back down the road.

Until he was shot in his wing, he cried out with pain falling to his knees, he turned to see the Autobots in a defensive position the girls hiding under Ratchet.

The seeker frowned and got to shaky legs running to an old pile of rocks that were tall and still in tack to hide him.

They all watched he seeker jump the ruin and sit inside, not bothering to run while he had the chance they moved forward.

"Why are you here?" Arcee snapped.

"I was ordered to follow the signal that showed up, so I did, I didn't do anything obviously...I just looked around" Starscream said.

"We can see that, but why didn't you when my back was turned?" Ratchet asked.

"........I can tell you took them in, the way they called you, talked to you, how you talked to them....I'm.....I don't enjoy killing you know" Starscream said.

They all shared a look and didn't know what to do, the seeker sighed and got up, he went to the far wall.

He moved his wings and cringed, hissing in pain, he tried to transform but couldn't finish the process so he reverted back, he had his optics closed and was leaning on the wall.

Hailey walked in and up to the con, Hannah behind her, they stared at the seeker, they saw that his pedes were heeled like.

"Girls come back here" Arcee said.

"Wait Arcee, go ahead girls" Optimus said.

Starscream cowered back into the wall when they came over, Hailey reached out her hand and watched the seeker shake and flinch then tense when she touched him gently.

"I'm not going to hurt you, how can I?" Hailey smiled up at him.

Starscream whined softly but didn't say anything, his body was so tense his legs were beginning to lock on him.

Ratchet came over and helped him sit down, rubbing the joints, the seeker watched him and started to relax.

"Come to base with us" Ratchet said.

"What!" Arcee yelled scaring the seeker.

"He hasn't done anything, ever thought that maybe he doesn't want to live a life of cruelty?" Ratchet asked picking him up.

Optimus picked the girls up and they all went back to base, everyone at base gasped when they saw the seeker being carried in.

"YOUR ALL TO LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Ratchet yelled.

"Except Hannah and Hailey" Ratchet said over his shoulder.
