7: The Sins of The Fathers

Saturday approached faster then Hermione would have liked and before too soon she was making her way down to Hogsmeade to meet with Evelyn. She had dressed warmly for the occasion and was glad of it due to the weather slowly turning colder in the evenings.

Walking onto the warmth of The Three Broomsticks, Hermione looked around for any sign of Iris's mother. Not finding her there, Hermione chose a table in the corner of the room and sat down to wait.

Madam Rosmerta, the pub matron, spotted the Gryffindor girl and approached her with a warm smile.

''Ello Hermione, dear. I haven't seen you in a while.' The curvy blonde spoke in a cheery tone but kept her voice down to not alert the other patrons to Hermione's presence.

'Hey, Ros. How's business been?'

'Oh, business is good. Better the usual, actually,' She grinned as she looked around to all the tables which were occupied by both Hogsmeade villagers and Hogwarts Students, 'Though everything's been better since...well, you know.'

Hermione nodded, 'And how have you been...since everything?'

Rosmerta's smiled faulted for a second before her face lit up again, 'Everyone has their good days and their bad ones...I'm no different. But, enough about me. What about you? War heroine and brains of the Golden trio, now Head Girl at Hogwarts. Must be an awful lot to take in.'

Again, Hermione nodded politely, 'Yes, it is. But I manage.'

'Then you're a darn lot stronger than the rest of us,' Rosmerta replied and was about to continue speaking when she was interrupted by another blonde woman.

'Hermione,' Evelyn said breathlessly as she approached the table. She looked as if she had jogged there from St. Mungo's.

'Well, I see you have company,' Rosmerta smiled, 'I'll bring a round of Butterbeers over for you ladies.'

'Thank you, Ros.' Hermione said as the matron left before turning her attention to the out of breath healer, 'Hey, you made it.'

'Of course,' Evelyn smiled while taking the seat opposite the brunette, 'I was the one who asked you here after all.'

'True,' Hermione laughed, 'So, hows things been at home without Iris around?'

'Quiet,' Evelyn replied, 'Very quiet. It's a little unnerving actually. Alec and I have the whole house to ourselves for the first time in eleven years and yet we have no idea what to do with ourselves.
