You know what sucked?
Being single sucked- well, being single was cool. You didn't have to worry about another person, spend money on gifts, and get your heart broken. It sucked when you were single and all of your friends were in relationships.
Jamie and Jack were off being cutesy with each other, Blair moved but at least she had a boyfriend before she did, and Dani was crushing on a guy she hung out with for band practice.
They still made time for me and all, but there were those lonely moments when they would say "me and my boyfriend" or "I'm going with my boyfriend"- they don't have to say that last part to me, ya know?
Do you know what sucks even more?
Feeling like you're trapped and pressured into finding a boyfriend, when you don't want one at all. I don't want a boyfriend. But there was not one person in this fucking small town that was worth my time- and not everyone here is as open as I thought they are. The only person that I truly wanted already moved away, she wasn't coming back.
Now I lay here, staring at my living room ceiling as the clock continues to tick, I've been so bored.
The lock of the front door started to turn and my mom's keys jingled as she came in, "Monique! Guess who just came back into town?"
Probably my cousins from Los Angeles, I didn't bother guessing, so I ignored her.
"River Price! Your old friend, she's visiting for the summer and staying at her aunt's house."
River Price?
"What did you say?" I was now standing up, my eyes wide from shock and confusion.
"River's back," She sang and walked towards the kitchen to put down the groceries, "her family's coming over tomorrow for dinner. Aren't you excited!?"
"Ahaha, very," I sarcastically said and walked upstairs to my room.
Fuck.
