Ch. 5 ♡

"Hey, quit it!"

River kept splashing water towards me when I was on the donut float. Our families as well as my friends drove to Dani's summer house, which had a massive pool. George was barbecuing all the meats while the other dads were sitting back, drinking. All the moms were inside cooking more food and probably gossiping about work. Jamie and Dani were suntanning while the two of us- plus Javier and Jack- were in the pool.

"Come on! Let's play," River whined and continued to throw cold water on me, "the boys are waiting."

"No!" I picked up a beach ball and threw it at her face, she laughed and swam under me- flipping me and the donut over.

"AHH-" I screamed before being indulged underwater. She was dying of laughter, but tried to swim away from me. I sighed in defeat and decided to join them in their little game of pool volleyball.

To be honest, I was worried that the rest of them wouldn't get along with River, just because she was the shy type to new people. However, they warmed up to her easily and she learned to become comfortable. She got along really well with Jamie, but Jamie is friendly to everyone she meets.

"Get in the pool, pussies!" I yelled to the two girls burning the skins off, "now!"

"Piss off!" Jamie joked and turned the volume up higher on the speaker. Jack jumped out the pool to sneak around her, he picked her up and jumped into the water with her still in his arms. Danielle's eyes widened in horror before she came in.

All of us played a few rounds of Marco Polo, ultimate ball, and more volleyball before we got out to eat. Jack and Javier took the upstairs shower and we had to wait for them to be done.

"Let's just shower together," River poked my side. I almost choked on my own spit- what did she just ask? "Come on, we've known each other forever. I just want to get done and eat, I'm starving."

"Yeah, Jamie and I will do that too- look, Javier's done," Dani and Jamie took the bathroom after my brother. He glanced back at the girls before giving me a weirded look.

Jack emerged from the bathroom door with his hair all wet and fog following after him, he smiled and headed back downstairs to where everyone was.

"Come on?" River tapped my shoulder while carrying her clothes. I started to feel nervous- what if I start staring at her body unconsciously? It happens too often to me. Then she'll start to tease me, touch me- we're in shower and it's hot, I-

"Are you just gonna wait until I'm done?"

I realized that I was daydreaming about the situation, quickly I followed in and the shower head turned in. It seemed impossible to avoid the awkwardness, but we didn't exchange words in order to focus on cleaning out the chlorine from our hair. River exited out the shower after a few minutes, thank god. I sighed in relief and finished up, she was still changing when I got out.

"Maybe I was wrong, you did change."

"Huh?"

"Your boobs got ten times bigger."

I started to laugh as I pulled my shirt over me and my pants, "thanks- um, I can't say the same for you."

"Fuck you!" She jokingly said and opened the door. The bathroom was scorching, the cold air was refreshing to me. Everyone sat down to eat the freshly made hot dogs, rice, ribs, and vegetables. The dads started to talk more about the world's problems and the moms were making fun of them- I started to doze off because I was working on my food coma. Bless parents and their cooking skills, how am I going to compete with this?

After we finished eating, the adults took over the living room for their "adult movies." The weather was still hot, so we sat on the patio with the lights illuminating the darkness. We were in a circle, just sitting there. Not bored- just tired and full.

"Let's play Truth or Dare!" Dani clapped her hands, "but a sober and nice version- I don't want anyone drunk or uncomfortable."

"Fine, fine," I agreed and looked around, "who's going first?"

"Me!" Dani raised her hand before giving me a devilish smile, "Oh, Monique. Truth or Dare?"

"Truth- you demon."

She sighed, "okay.. um- you have a crush on someone. True?"

I hesitated for a little bit, I didn't want to answer. They'll ask who and out me- I could always lie though.

"True."

She gasped and covered her mouth, I didn't want to look over at anyone else because it'll make me more nervous, so I asked Danielle if she wanted a truth or dare.

"Dare," she smirked, "see? Not a pussy."

"Then run down the street with your top off."

"Oh god," Jamie couldn't help but say. She covered her face from second hand embarrassment and River was already laughing.

"Okay," Dani said without defeat, "no filming!" We followed her to the front of the house where she proceeded to take her top off and run from the top to the bottom of the hill. Javier was having the time of his life seeing boobs while the rest of us were cheering and screaming at her courage.

"I can't believe I just did that- no one tell!" Dani pointed her finger at us when we settled back into the patio, "okay. River, truth or dare?"

"Dare," She smiled, "you gave me courage."

"I.. hm this is hard," Dani thought about it, "kiss one of us here!"

Fuck you, I said to Dani in my head. I wanted to get up and walk away so badly, just so I wouldn't be an option or see her kiss anyone else.

"Anyone?" River looked over to the couple.

"It's just a dare," Jamie shrugged her shoulders and Jack nodded.

She pushed herself off the floor and sighed, "just a dare then.."

My cheeks started to heat up when River made her way towards me- eyes shining and a smile on her lips, she cupped my face and kissed me. I kissed her back, however it was just a short one. She sighed and spun back on her heels.

"Just a dare," she cleared her throat and turned over to Jack, "truth or dare?"

I continued to stare at the floor, in shock. River kissed me- River Price kissed me! This was like a dream come true, something unreal. Her lips were so soft and comforting, I wanted more of it-

"Just a dare."
