THE GOLDEN MARAUDERS: THE FIRST HEIR

THE SORTING

It was inside the Entrance Hall that Rose had pulled Lily and Al from Scorpius and rushed them both in the front of the First Years line, leaving a dejected Scorpius in the sea of other students. "What did you do that for?" Al snapped at Rose as he and lily snatched their hands away from her. Rose gave them a hurt look before exhaling deeply.

"We are cousins, we look out for each other" she said nonchalantly. "but Scorpius isn't who you think-" but Rose cut him off; "he is trouble just like his father and he is a MALFOY which is enough reason to keep him away" she finishes, looking away when they hear someone cough awkwardly in front of them. 

The chatter dies down as everyone looks at the man in front of them and of course everyone knew him; Neville Longbottom stood their with a rolled parchment while the other hand looked like they were  not trying to fidget but he had on a smile as he looked at the little eleven year olds. His eyes stayed on the trio in the front for a little longer before he clears his throat again rather loudly before speaking.

"Welcome to Hogwarts, you will have your Sorting Ceremony first, followed by the start of term banquet. The sorting will determine your house hear at Hogwarts and in your time here, you will be having classes with your house and also live with them so as you can see it's rather important" he gives them all a sheepish smile. 

"There are four houses; Gryffindor, Ravenclaw,Hufflepuff and Slytherin and every one of them are equally important and here you gain points or lose points for your house too so, good luck to you all" he grins widely before turning around and pushing open the door.

This is it. All three of them thought as they started through the Great hall which had two long row of table in either sides where students were craning their necks to take a look, mainly at the Infamous Potter Twins. There were gasps and many whispers and they could hear James telling them all to shut up from the gryffindor table before grinning at his younger siblings.

"form a line everyon- oh you are already in one" Neville mumbles before opening the roll of parchment and holding out the old Sorting Hat with the other hand "when your name is called than you are to come in front and place this hat on your head" there were murmurs of interest and excitement going through the first years, Neville first places the hat on the stool as it started singing.

"I've done this job for centuries

On every student's head I've sat 

of thoughts I take inventories

For the infamous Sorting Hat

I've sorted high,  I've sorted low,

I've done this job through thick and thin

So put me on and you will know

Which house you should be in.

The whole Hall burst into applause as the hat finishes its song. It bowed to each house and then went still again. Neville stepped forward with the roll of parchment before speaking out the first name "BELBY, SHANE" a pink looking boy made his way towards the stool as Neville put the hat on top of his head and soon the hat shouts out "HUFFLEPUFF!"

"ooh two Potters in our year" a blonde girl spoke behind Lily and Al as they nodded their heads, smiling uncertainly her. "And I am their cousin, Rose Granger- Weasley, pleased to make you acquaintance" Rose smiled politely at the blonde, who smiled back at her. "and I am Polly Chapman, pleased to meet you too" and Lily since knew that those two were going to be a perfect pair.

Name after name was called, Polly went in Gryffindor and so did a red head and two more boys while Scorpius went to Slytherin but that was no surprise. Soon the name everyone were so excited about was called "POTTER, LUNA LILY". She  looked at Al and Rose once before walking towards the stool, she could hear everyone whispering loudly and soon she saw Neville's face beaming at her "Hello Lily and well, good luck eh?" he winks at her before he places the hat on her head and she hears the whisper becoming more of a humn as another raspy voice spoke in her ears.

"Ah girl potter, finally then! I see courage of course, bravery, recklessness is certainly present and Oooh of course there is mischief and selflessness too and of course of course, you are certainly  GRYFFINDOR!" the hat screams out finally before Neville pulls the hat out of her head while grinning at her brightly as she hears the loud cheers, espicially from her brother and cousins in the Gryffindor table. 

Lily smiles brightly as she walks to the Gryffindor table, sitting in front of her brother and next to her cousins, Roxanne and Fred. "WELCOME TO HOGWARTS CUZ!" Fred grins at her as she grins back. Lily looks back at the Sorting just in time to see Neville speak up the next name  "POTTER, SEVERUS ALBUS" lots of people gasped, some in sucked in breath at hearing Al's middle name. Albus nervously smiles at Neville before he puts on the hat and sits back on the stool, Lily could feel James excitement from where she sat and in return it made her anxious too.

"SLYTHERIN" 

silence fell over the whole great hall and even Neville made no move to take away the hat as he kept staring at the hat. Lily turned to see James already looking at her with open mouth and wide eye. "Slytherin?" "A Slytherin Potter" everyone was now talking in hushed tone but Lily and James stared at their brother as he made his way relunctantly to the Slytherin table who all looked rather confused, except Scorpius that is. He was grinning at Al who made his way towards the grinning kid as he sat next to him in silence. He could hear the whispers so he sank into his seat, almost hiding behind Scorpius; Albus didn't even listen when The Headmistress, McGonagall said her speech nor did he care when the food that Ron always talked about appeared in front of him.

Because he knew that from then on his life here would be insufferable and that everyone in the Wizarding World would know about Harry Potter's Slytherin Son by the next morning.

but I just wanted to say that I think that two year gap is too much in between james and lily and Albus so I figured since Al and Lily are already twins, James is a second year right now because I really want the Potter kids to be close and somewhat relatable age wise.
