C H A P T E R 19

The clock on the wall ticks as I watch the minutes go by. I was afraid of going to sleep by the nightmares I keep having about Everest.

The dark wasn't making it any better since I'm getting paranoid by perceiving him standing in a corner of my room, staring at me.

Axel asks me if I wanted to sleep with him in his room but I denied his offer since he already has done so much for me.

He risks his life for me, and I'm sure that If Everest ever finds us he will end his life then mines.

A loud noise from downstairs cuts me off from my thoughts. It's most likely Axel up again doing whatever he does at this time of the night.

The noise has gotten louder, and the next thing I heard was screaming that sounded like he was in trouble.

Getting up from my bed, I try finding something to defend myself with. My eyes captured sight of a vase that looked deadly from the rock material on top of a bookshelf.

Taking the Vase from the shelf, I walk towards the door then open it up to see if anyone was in the hallway.

When the close was clear, I step out of the room then started walking down the hallway. The noise continues and I identify the noise was coming from downstairs.

My legs begin turning jello as I was nearing the staircase. The noise got louder and louder where I couldn't hear my own thoughts.

I walk down the stairs quietly from my light steps then walked towards the front where the door was smashed open.

My eyes widen at the broken door then I continued to walk farther into the house. I hope it isn't Everest and it's just a homeless person that somehow knows how to break down doors.

Withdrawing another step, I felt something liquid and warm underneath my feet. I look down to reflect a pool of dark red substance.

                    Is that blood?!
