Meeting Kaiden(the other side of me I never knew)

Chapter 12

  **Sam's pov**

  When I woke up this morning I felt cold and that's when I noticed kaiden wasn't beside me. I felt a little dissapointed that he wasn't here, the bed was cold and lonely. I wished I actually talked to him instead of going off like I did with he and Luke. I was just tired of their fighting and now that I knew the truth, I needed to figure out why Luke felt so obligated to protect me. We were just friends---or so I thought but if he had feelings for me, it would explain a great deal of Kaiden's behavior towards him. My thoughts of them didn't last too long though before I heard mom yelling at me. Looking at the clock it was five till eight and usually she would have come in my room to wake me but she didn't. My thoughts of them didn't last too long though before I heard mom yelling at me. I slipped out of bed and did my best getting ready in three minutes flat. I hated rushing but I guess finding out about Kaiden truly wore me out one way or the other. Once I put on my outfit, I wore a blue jean skirt, sweater and some boots to match which were sort of high with zippers in the back. I like them, they were mainly my winter wear but I just felt like having my legs out today for some reason. Mom was sitting in her usual spot at the table with her signature stress look---her hand cuffing her bangs too tight, like she had a headache while her other hand was clenching the coffee cup as if her life depended on it. My place of eating was far away from her, the end of the table and she had already placed my plate there.

"You want to fail?" she peeked up at me, her blue eyes ringed in strain and anger.

"N-No of course not ma' " I sighed taking a seat.

"You act like you do, I told you to go to bed on time Samantha! You only have one chance to get good grades and get out of this hell hole of a town.....one chance!" she blinked several times before sipping her coffee.

"Mom, we are fine....we just moved here and I sort of like it." I shrugged with a smile on my lips, thinking of Kaiden and Luke.

Luke was my only friend. I really didn't have any friends that were girls yet. All they did was stare at me as if they were scared to say HI. Mom shook her head and glared at her watch.

"I have to go. Catch the neighbor boy to school, I think he's late too." Mom stood from her seat, she hadn't touched her breakfast.

"I really don't have time-----..." I stated only for her to interrupt me abruptly."Sit! Eat your meal, I worked so hard on it!" she screamed at me. Mom shook, her nerves were obviously bothered by something. I sighed hoping it wasn't our issue....the issue she had for some time that she never talked about.

"Mom, I love you." I whispered.

She rushed over grabbing her bag and kissed me goodbye. She didn't reply and I guess I didn't expect her too either, so I wasn't that hurt.

I scoffed my breakfast down fast and drank half of my orange juice. Looking one last time at how things were set inside, I nodded, shut and locked up. Mom had already gone, she never lingered and was in and out like a light switch going off and on. As I walked to Lukes, I noticed the mailbox flap down. I groaned thinking of Mom's erratic moments, she may had left it open after getting the mail.

As soon as I got in front of it though, I bent down to look inside making sure she didn't leave anything when there was small drops of something dark. Reaching my hand inside, I felt something cold and slime like.

Fear and confusion filled me when my eyes came to focus on what it was.

"Sam!" Luke's voice threw me into the now zone but it was too late. I pulled my hand back out and started shaking before a scream left my lips.

Luke wrapped his arms around me and pulled me back away from the box. Right in front of my eyes, my fingers were coated with the dark, sticky blood and inside the mailbox was two huge rats, one smaller than the other with their throats slit.

"Sam!" Luke yelled but all I heard was an echo before my eyes began to gain more light than normal..

Who would do such a thing? Why? 

I was still staring down when I noticed there was a note inside that said. 

 I'm coming. 

I stood there silent and the next thing I knew everything went dark.

 So guys who do you think the note is from???
