Kova approached Azriel's room. The shadow masters wings where dropping onto the mattress his head  in his hands. Kova sat cross legged on the floor at his feet. She knew his sadness, some days she would sit infront if him till he held her in his chest, rocking back and forth. Or when she was breaking he would take her in his arms murmuring stories in her ear, stoking her head till she calmed down.

His hazel eyes, dull with grief looked into her pale blues ones. "I'm sure your tired of me saying this but you look so much like your mother". A sad smirk crosses her lips, "We need to tell them the truth about me, Rhys and Feyre are already suspicious about my scent."
"How can we tell them, they would take it as a betrayal"
"No they wouldn't. They would understand everything you did was to protect me. Just imagine Mor and Rhys' face". A laugh broke from Azriel as he stood up embracing Kova in a tight embrace that lifted her well of her feet, his wings curled around them.

A loud cough caused them both to break apart. Cassian stood in the door way his eyebrows raised, "I'm going to hope that was platonic"
"It was" both Azriel and Kova burst out a shiver of disgust . "What is it Cassian?"

"We may have a problem. And by problem I mean big invasion"

Azriel pushed Kova into Cassian's arms while he took off at top speed to his High Lord and Lady. "What's going in Cas?" Kova yelled over the winds rushing around them as Cassian dived towards the city streets where an army was invading. "Xavier". The name answered all of her questions. She spotted Ash, Feyre, Rhys and Azriel in a pack at the head of the battle. Cassian nodded knowing what she wanted, he soared above the group dropping her from above. She rolled on impact, so not to break her knees, drawing her swords, throwing herself into the fight.

Time became endless as she danced between the men in bronze armour, her eyes watching for a glimpse of coal black eyes and blonde hair. Ash ended up beside her, the two of them fighting together as if they'd gown up together, back to back against the invasion.

The sun was slowly setting when a silence coated the streets. Rhys' yell brought Kova to the present. Xavier stood with his blade at Azriel throat, she tried to run forwards but Ash caught her holding her back. "The shadowsinger for your son Rhysand" Xavier smiled cruelly at them, Feyre was sobbing. "What is my life compared to Ash's" Azriel muttered to Xavier shaking his head at Rhys.

Cassian stood near Kova shaking with anger and fear for his brother like friend. "Really Azriel what about your daughter? What will happen to her when you die?" Xavier asked quietly.

Rhys and his inner circle all blanched. "Did you not tell them Azriel! Oh what a joy!"

"You have a daughter!" gasped Rhys. Azriel looked down but nodded. "Where is she?" Feyre asked,
"In the Night Court" Xavier laughed,

"Come Kova, save your father"

Everyone turned to Kova whose shadows curled around her writhing angrily. "You did you research" she spat at Xavier. "How could I not, you enraptured me when I first saw you, though I must say it wasn't easy". Kova's face was tight with anger but her eyes were calm and calculating.

Suddenly Xavier's men dropped from above grabbing Feyre, Cassian and Rhys. But Kova had thrown herself at Ash as they rolled out of harms way. Azriel made eye contract with her. "Kova" his voice was steady but everyone heard the emotion there, "Remember your mother and I love you, but you know what you need to do. Show them who you are".

Men approached them, just as Xavier slashed Azriel wings with his sword.

Azriel screamed in pain as Kova screamed in fear but her hands closed around Ash's, "Widow!", she yelled at him,
"Where?!",
"Just do it. Trust me!" Her eyes locked onto emerald green, she saw that he really did trust her with his life. Shadows and air bent as he widowed them, Kova fixed her mind in the place she knew that they would be safe, at least for a while.

They tumbled into to lush green grass, blood still cling to them its metallic scent permeating the air around them. The only sound was Ash's pants and Kova's short sharp breaths. "Kova" Ash whispered his hands still around her wrists, "Please talk to me". Kova raised her head to him, the son of the High Lord who she'd sworn to protect with her life. His blue black hair blew in the breeze his face splattered with blood but eyes kind and concerned. "We have to move,"
she choked out, her vision blurry.

"It's ok to cry, little Lynx" Ash said gently raising a hand towards her but she pushed it aside climbing to her feet, pushing tears threatening to fall, out of her eyes. She could see a mansion in the distance, "Where are we?" Ash asked her,
"Spring Court"
"The spring court!" Ash yelled at her, "Why! You know my family history with Tamlin!". Anger and something else darted around in his emerald eyes.

Kova looked at him not flinching despite being able to feel the power radiating off him in waves, his power was immense with the damper on it coming off. "Listen to me Ash. Xavier will be looking for you, the last court he'll look in will be the spring court because of your History"
"Why not winter, we could go to your mothers?"

"My mother is dead!" She yelled at him, tired of his stubbornness, "Get over yourself Asher! You're scared of Tamlin"

"I am not!"
"Then why don't you want to go to him then?"
"Because he'll betray us, lock us up and go straight to Xavier"
Sadness coated Kova's voice as she looked at him, Ash's wings were taut, unfurling, then furling again in agitation. "Tamlin no longer has the strength to do that", surprise flickered across his face, "This shadow illness hit the Spring Court first. Tamlin is struggling to keep his court together with so many dying".

Ash looked up at the mansion and then back to Kova. He slowly nodded at her still tense, "Come on Batling", a small smirk crossed Ash's face at her nickname for him. Together they walked up towards the mansion, around them crops were wilting and trees were brown and dropping. Each step they took towards the mansion Ash seemed to get more agitated but when she glanced at him out the corner of her eye his face impassive and neutral.

As they approached the doors, they were thrown open, a figure stood on the threshold. "Tamlin" Kova breathed as they reached the bottom of the steps. The High Lord of Spring looked haggard, his blonde hair wild and unwashed. "He didn't look like that a few days ago" Ash muttered.
"A mask for your parents Ash" Tamlin replied looking at him them, at Kova. She smiled at him a warmth spreading through her body at the sight of him, she and Tamlin hadn't got along at first but over the years they had formed a strange friendship. "Come" He beckoned to them, they hurried over the threshold.
