Father's day 2019

Happy father's day! To every dad out there- biological, adoptive, or step- thank you for what you do!

Thank you to my own dad, who has always gone above and beyond for me (and my sisters), and been the best grandpa to my kids. Thanks, dad, for teaching me how to drive. Thanks for helping me to learn how to critically think, self-teach, learn, and adapt so I can overcome my challenges instead of being bogged down by my problems. Thanks, dad, for teaching me how to not overreact or panic when driving during bad weather, too. (Although, your method of making me learn to control my anxiety and patience by making me drive and intentionally slide on ice a few times was a bit scary... though very effective.) Thank you for always showing me the highest standards of what a man and father should be like, and raising me to find someone who meets those very high expectations as a father and dad. Thanks, dad, for all those times you played tea party with me and probably didn't want to. Thank you for all those times you took out of your busy schedule to spend with me, no matter how much work you had to do. Thank you for taking me to the hardware store with you and letting me help fix and build things. I can't smell sawdust or walk around a hardware store now without thinking of you and smiling because of all the quality time we had to spend together. Thanks for listening to my emotional ranting as a teenager and for always having my back. <3 you, dad.

Special thanks to my own husband, who not only is a fantastic dad, but he is my other half- my better half- and he helps me work past my baggage, sees beyond my past, and loves me for the good and bad of me. You help me become a better person, and you show our kids what love, hard work, dedication, and affection is meant to look like. One day, when they're grown, I know that they'll best ideal in their mind of what love should really be like. <3
