16. Speechless

Shackles on my wrist,
The four walls caging me in like a fist.

Voice left unheard,
Never to be seen.

Silenced, told that this is a women's place,
to only display a pretty face.

Stay speechless and silent,
Never be heard or seen,
as that is a women's place in this world.

But I know I won't stay silent,
These shackles can't hold me down.
Once again the tide is changing.

All I know is I won't remain speechless.
You wish to see me fall but I will rise,
The cage will be opened and I will fly tall in the sky.

I won't crumble and fall but learn to sail with these broken wings.

(Inspired by Aladdin).
