The road was smooth going down the highway. Going from one place to the next was never a problem, though this time it was. With a upset sigh I whipped the tears from my cheek and cranked the music up that was pulsing through the car. My playlist was over and now it was just playing songs that I could possibly like based off of my previous likes. I sat comfortably in my seat though most no one sets how I do. My right leg remained down by the petals while my left was pulled up to my chest my left arm leaning against it while my right held the wheel.
The car hummed quietly beneath me as the road continued beneath me. I wanted desperately to turn around, for this to all be nothing more than a dream. No, a nightmare. My ringing phone caused me to flinch lightly in my seat. Clearing the lump from my throat and whipping away the few tears that continued to roll down my cheeks seemingly no matter what, I reached across the other seat and grabbed the ringing phone. Looking at the phone to see the name I answered after one more attempt of clearing the lump in my throat.
"Hey, where are you at?" Her voice sounded quiet over the phone almost as if she was to be louder it would cause me to shatter.
"Um," I hummed looking to the street signs over the highway. "I'm about to get off the highway to head towards Beacon Hills."
"Okay, most of your stuff is here already in your room, I figured we could unpack together and hang out the way that we used to?" her voice sounded hopeful. Almost as if she was afraid I'd say no.
The night sky was covered by dark clouds as it began to sprinkle. A storm was here to accompany my mood. I wanted nothing more than to be alone with my thoughts but that would be dangerous. My fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel as I exited off the highway.
"That sounds great Lyds," I responded with a small smile. "Maybe I should stop and get some food on the way in for the both of us?"
Lydia laughed lightly and it brought a smile to my face, "Actually I will get us some Chinese food, okay your favorite? You just worry about getting here."
Lydia's excitement for me to be there brought a bigger smile to my face. Though my thoughts were still plaguing my mind, I tried my best to push them far away. Putting both my legs down into the floor, I wanted nothing more than to stretch after being in the car for four hours.
"Sounds awesome Lydia. Your sure you don't want me to stop?" I asked biting my lip.
"I'm positive, besides I need something to do to pass the time I feel like I've been waiting for so long. To long honestly and I'm to excited to just set still." I could feel how jumpy she was even through the phone.
"I'm about forty minutes away maybe less now." I responded to the phone and could hear as Lydia jumped to her feet with a squeal.
"Yes!" She shouted through the phone.
Lydia and I had talked many times about living together in the future. Going to the same collage and getting an apartment together or even a shared dorm. I smiled lightly at the idea though it was sophomore year we would be living together now because of a series of unfortunate events.
"I'm going to get the food now, and it will be waiting for you when you get here, be safe." With that Lydia ended the call as I sat the phone down in my lap.
Pulling my leg back up to set how I had been setting I turned the volume up in the car again. An unfamiliar song filled the speakers as I continued on my drive. Coming up on a red light I stopped but didn't move my position on my seat. A blue jeep pulled up next to me at the light and I turned lightly to look at the person. There sat two boys both talking to each other with wild hand gestures.
