"You're still so young." The queen mused. "Shadowhunters are all alike. Their mortality makes them fickle, selfish, weak. In the end they always choose their own kind. And so must we." The queen spoke.

My head stayed pressed against Simon's chest as his arms stayed wrapped around me. One on my shoulders and the other on my waist.

"I can't speak for all shadowhunters. But Clary and Adeline, are nothing like that." Simon spoke. "Clary, would never turn on me."

"This is about more than Clary. This is about the fate of the Downworld. There's a reason why my people have survived longer than any other creature on this Earth. We know when to choose the winning side." The queen spoke.

"Well, I'm sorry. You've got the wrong guy." Simon spoke for himself.

"I dont want anything to do with either sides." I spoke taking a breathe to calm my nerves. "I'm Switzerland."

"No I dont. I want to be friends with the both of you." The queen spoke walking closer to us, answering what Simon had said. "And, I'm willing to wait. I'm a very patient woman."

With that being the Queens final word we turned to walk out. Simon keeping me close to him. My head still leaned into his chest as we walked side by side. Once we were back into the room he walked closer to Clary. Jace stood to walk closer to us.

"Is everything okay?" Clary asked seeing our fast walking and my tear stained cheeks.

"Great!" Simon shouted for the queen to hear before lowering his voice to a whisper. "We need to go right now." His arm still wrapped firmly around my shoulders.

"Hey. Hey, wait." Jace stated in a whisper before addressing the queen. "Your majesty, with your permission, we should get going."

"But you've only just arrived." The queen called.

The sound of something moving, almost like a slithering was heared. We looked down to see vines snaking up Simon and Jace's legs. I stumbled away from Simon's side and closer to Clary with wide eyes.

"It's futile to struggle." The queen announced as the two began to yank at the vines and kick their feet. "Vitis veritas. Enchanted vines that only obey me."

"What are you doing? Let them go!" Clary demanded walking up to the queen.

"I could burn them and your entire forest to the ground." I stated with a glare.

"Did you know he knew?" The queen asked to me. "He, knew what I just told you." The queen said looking to Jace.

My hands dropped to my sides the idea of torching the place no longer in my mind. I looked to Jace with a hurt expression and he simply looked confused.

"Y-you knew?" I asked at just above a whisper.

"Knew what?" Jace gasped out with the vines moving up.

"Shadowhunters killed my parents." I spat.

"No, the circle did." Jace stated.

I shook my head and turned away from him. Out of all the things Jace had kept from me this was drawing a line. This hurt.

"They killed several of my kind." The queen spoke looking to Jace and Simon.

"What? We didn't kill anyone!" Simon called.

"She cant lie." Jace spoke. "Your majesty, you must be mistaken."

"I told you, the birds, bees, bugs, they're all in my service."

"The gnats at the kill tree." I spoke in understanding.

"What, that.. that bug I killed?" Simon asked.
