My suitcase and one bag filled with clothes sat on my bed. I smiled lightly at the luggage before turning to my open doorway. There stood Lydia looking like she was on the verge of tears. She cleared her throat before moving to walk away.
"Lydia." I called with a smile and a playful roll of my eyes.
She stopped for a moment before turning around to look at me. Crossing my arms over my chest I moved to stand closer to her.
"You know I didnt get a chance to really talk to you last night about where I'm going." I stated with a smile.
Lydia scoffed at me, "your leaving to go to New York." She said sniffling.
The smile grew on my face as I looked down trying to hide it. Before I could say anything else though aunt Natalie rounded the corner and smiled lightly at us.
"You girls all packed?" She asked.
Lydia faltered and her face fell as she looked between the two of us. My smile grew as I knew she caught what her mother had said.
"G-girls?" Lydia stated for clarification, " you mean as in plural?" She asked with a hopeful smile.
"You didnt expect me to go to New York of all places without you did you?" I asked playfully rolling my eyes again.
A squeal left Lydia as she threw herself at me. Not prepared for the action a scream of suprise left me as we both went tumbling to the floor of my room. Aunt Natalie simply laughed from the door way and covered her mouth with one perfectly manicured hand. She shook her head at us in delight though.
"Are you serious?" Lydia gasped out moving to set back on her heels.
"Of course Lydia, now hurry up and go pack!" I said motioning to the door.
Another squeal left Lydia as she raced to her room. I knew Jackson leaving to England hit her hard. Then finding out Allison was leaving all summer hurt her as well. When my aunt spoiled the suprise of me leaving, Lydia locked herself in her room and refused to talk to me until today. With a smile I stood from the ground and walked to my luggage.
Soon having all of my luggage placed into my trunk I walked back to Lydia's room who had several items packed in between three suitcases. I gapped in suprise at her.
"Lydia, were not going forever." I deadpanned amused at her.
"Well, obviously, but I still need to look good." She stated while folding a skirt.
"You should save room for shopping though." I said with a smile.
With a gasp she emptied the contents of two suitcases claiming she would take them empty and fill then there. I laughed rather hard at my cousin.
After having all of our luggage packed and ready loaded into my car we went back inside to eat lunch before our trip. As Lydia and I sat in the kitchen making spaghetti the doorbell rang. Currently stiring the sauce Lydia bounced to answer the door.
The gentle clicks of her heels sounded on the tile as she made her way back to the kitchen.
"Who was it?" I asked tapping the spoon on the side of the pan to clear it of excess sauce.
"See for yourself." Lydia hummed moving me away from my cooking.
I turned around seeing Scott standing awkwardly in the entry way of the kitchen. I turned to Lydia who was wearing a faux smile of innocence as she stared back at me.
Lydia knew of my ever growing crush for Scott I had told her when I first knew I had one. When I found out he was secretly dating Allison I immediately pretended the crush was gone. Now that he was standing here in the kitchen Lydia was all smiles, knowing full well that I liked him. I cleared my throat awkwardly as Lydia nudged me to him.
