This was my contest entry for the #Perfect Date contest, enjoy!

Dear Derric,

Money has always been an issue for me, especially now in recent days. I'm lucky if I have enough money at the end of a paycheck to afford a slice of pizza. But that is a discussion for another day, this letter is about my perfect date.

Although it may seem impossible, I can imagine a time where money is no object. A time where we can go far, far away, maybe to Europe. I've always wanted to go, and see the sights. To be perfectly honest, it didn't matter where we would go as long as I don't have to deal with the stress of the mess I call my family, and juggling school and work.

Once we would get away from it all, our date would consist of us going on a hike on a scenic mountain trail. Of course we would collectively decide on the toughest trail with unrealistic expectations. I can just imagine the silly looking grin on your face as you try to convince me we could do it. When I bring up the practicality that we aren't ready not prepared, you nudge my shoulder and tell me to "liven up." I would give in after a few moments of your incessant pestering and few smiles.

Then halfway through we would walk back, complaining about how much our feet hurt and how stupid we must have been to think we would walk 20 miles. There would be laughs on the way down and a few trips, mostly from me and you even offer to carry me. Following this, we would finally have a race to settle who's faster. Spoiler alert, it's going to be me.

The point of our perfect date is not where we go or what we do. I want to be in a place fully immersed in us, and not have my mind wander to the millions of things going on through my mind at a time. Normally there is always too much going on. With you I feel liberated, and I want us to be in a place where I can focus on you 100%, and forget about my problems for once. You bring out the best in me and make me want to throw caution to the wind. And for that I never want to let you go.

You're stuck with me now Derric.

Your girlfriend,
